Items being forbidden for mysterious reasons
« on: December 04, 2019, 09:58:19 pm »

Browsing my various stocks, I've noticed that categories of items end up being forbidden for reasons I don't understand.  Could some of you shed light on this?  Thanks in advance.

Stocks screen lists the possessions of visitors and merchants too. These are forbidden by default.

Probably a bug (it's on the tracker someplace). Especially likely to be unintended as you can unforbid it all and set it to dump, whereby dwarves swarm in for a game of strip-the-mercs.

In the Stocks menu, the "F" is shaded differently, depending on if some or if all are forbidden. You likely only have one or two items in a category that have become forbidden.

When items are 'd'umped or thrown (by angry dwarfs), they become forbidden. Other reasons for items being forbidden are listed in standing orders, under 'o', 'F'.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.
