Returning to this after a... hiatus of sorts, and I find I didn't follow up on new developments. Unfortunately, new changes in the development logs suggest this kind of world will be a dead end BEFORE the "long wait" and I might have to restart or undergo some serious hacking.

I'd finished these reports but not posted them.

I’m meeting with Cosla Yorepad and also have sent word to the capital. We’re no longer going to hold off on increasing our numbers. We’re officially lifting the population cap from 45/60 to the normal 200/220 Maximum and Absolute Maximum respectively.

For our first mission, I’ll be sending the Cheerful Theatres out to Ordermauve to find what they can from the ruins of the forest retreat… if they can find anything there. They have to rest a bit and finish arranging the furniture though, but I don’t think it’s an issue to send them off now. None of them are doing much and their usefulness is kind of limited. If they succeed, I have a better goal for them.

Today we admitted our 80th resident, and I admit, I was kind of nervous at first but she’s not only already been WIA against Athathi Apexmighty, but was also responsible for sending the cyclops into a terror, something which allowed us to fell the being. We’re dropping all initial caps on population and will take immigrants as normal. We also need to reinforce our defences on the double as a result, and increase our housing supply.

CaptainArchmage is handling the wounded now. Hopefully this will go OK from here.

> Be CaptainArchmage

You are now CaptainArchmage. Your fortress has now just defeated the Cyclops Athathi Apexmighty.

> CaptainArchmage: Recover Cosla Yorepad

You recovering your new resident, Cosla Yorepad, and take her down to the hospital. Unfortunately, while you’ve ordered a bed installed in the hallway it’s not going to be there on time. You leave her in Kol Escortrelic’s temporary bedroom and call for the doctor.

It’s been over a week since the defeat of Athathi Apexmighty, and a lot has changed. First of all, I’ve had the corpse of the cyclops placed on a pedestal in this unused room in the dungeons, which was found to have a strange ore called “pitchblende”.

About that… right… I think we can make use of this somehow.

As to Cosla Yorepad, she is recovering in Kol Escortrelic’s temporary bedroom. There were a few screwups due to bin conflicts, and I had to ban all supplies of cloth outside of the bins, but she finally completed her course of treatment. It remains to be seen whether she will recover properly.

I set up this dormitory so people can sleep somewhere else other than the floor. Many more beds are in progress, so we shouldn’t have to worry about this mess where dwarves are sleeping outside and so on.

I cancelled the engraving orders in the basement level, because they were chewing up all the engravers’ time. Sorry Litast, that will have to wait. However, we’re doubling the jail capacity by making existing rooms doubles. Regulations say we need one tenth of the population in jail capacity, and Litast gets a bit bitchy about that.

Someone, I suspect Zuglar Icylenses, perched this stepladder here, causing an issue with “dangerous terrain”. No shit. Unfortunately, Ral Claspedsneaked is now stuck in the tree above… at least I can build him a kind of bridge to get him out of there, as we install the window frames.

Lastly, I’m going to send out the Cheerful Theatres as soon as some animal traps are done. If they are successful, we shall go further afield. They should be back in a day or so.

Oh hang on, we have migrants.

Immigration Report by FakerFangirl, 10th Malachite 252

So like, we have like, migrants for the first time in over a year or so! Here’s the tally.

1. Mistêm Handlegulf, 16, mason and stoneworker. She was born in the hillocks of Tuskcloister, where her skills were under-utilised. It seems she was recommended Claspedbowels.
2. Olin Tourcouncil, 17, a woodcrafter and farmer born in the mountain halls of Minehush. It seems he has minor combat skills, and was rejected from the fort militia. He then emigrated to Tuskcloiser and eloped with Mistêm Handlegulf. He is the younger brother of Vutok the scribe.
3. Mistêm Claspfactions, 114, “adequate” cheese maker born in the hillocks of Gravelsenses, and later made the intelligent move to Trampledracks south of The Competitive Horns. Unfortunately still only an adequate cheese maker. She’s the cousin of Zas the stone crafter.
4. Edëm Talkedgirder, 116, also a farmer, thresher, and novice cook. Husband of Mistêm Claspfactions, born in Gravelsenses and obviously the two travelled together. They have two adult children.
5. Meng Flagsearched, 114. Adequate glazer and militadwarf brawler born in Charmpainted. Apparently she wanted to try cage fighting but there wasn’t much room for it in Charmpainted, with only 20 residents. The place is a tunnelthrough mountain halls.
6. Thob Furnaceswallows, 80, a bone doctor born in Deepvault who then moved to Gladeink. We kind of needed him earlier.
7. Olin Elderchanneled, 83, an administrator from Gladeink, wife of Thob. They have six children and one of them has migrated with them.
8. Minkot Pagerushed, 3, son of Thob and Olin.
9. Rigòth Pillarvises, 57, farmer and bone carver born in Goodcloisters, then moved to Blockadebattles. Some fighting skill. Married Udib Figurecommon.
10. Udib Figurecommon, 49, fish dissector. Born in Blockadebattles and married Rigòth when she arrived there. Notable by “Standard Lesbian Number 2” haircut.
11. Litast Birdglaze, 37, stoneworker. Born in the hillocks of Saverooms. Some fighting skill.
12. Asmel Feedsling, 40, woodworker carrying an honest-to-god axe. Also from Saverooms… though I can’t trace the government of The Creative Glove. Married to Litast Birdglaze.

And that’s it, twelve dwarves.

Report by CaptainArchmage, 11th Malachite 252

Normally I don’t make back to back reports, but during the migrant wave we found Vutok Spreadclasped playing around the northern pools. Due to this, I’ve assigned all the dwarven kids to a burrow inside the fortress. We can let them play outside again when the place is secured.

I was f*ckin stunned by the poor skills among the migrants in the late wave. Eh, here’s my assignments.

1. Mistêm Handlegulf will take over the stoneworking on the surface, making blocks for the surface. Err, no… however, as she likes battle axes, so I will also assign her weaponsmithing.
2. Olin Tourcouncil will be transferred to armouring.
3. Mistêm Claspfactions will take up wood burning and metal crafting. She will also process cheese, as necessary.
4. Edëm Talkedgirder will take up blacksmithing and furnace operating, but on the side will continue his farming duties.
5. Meng Flagsearched will also take up pottery on the side of glazing, as well as weaponsmithing.
6. Thob Furnaceswallows… will continue his medical work, I guess. I might add mechanics and so on to that but for now, eh
7. Olin Elderchanneled will take up weaponsmithing, furnace operating in addition to milking, lye-making, and soap making. A real bucket list.
8. Minkot is three years old. He dreams of mastering a skill, not sure whether his gender identity will shift but I’m anyways assigning him to a burrow right now.
9. Rigòth Pillarvises will take up armouring and pottery, part time. However, I think she would do well in astronomy too.
10. Udib Figurecommon will also take up armouring and pottery, part time.
11. Litast Birdglaze will become another stoneworker, making blocks under the guidance of Rigòth Wheeltower until she gets more skill.
12. Asmel Feedsling will be continuing his current work. I get “Verb” wants to do some bowyering but we’ll need backup.
