Yume no Taisen
Act I: Reach Out to the Truth

This is pretty creepy. The not-you is still standing there, staring blankly. Its eyes remain trained on you even when you take a few test steps left. This might be a test, you think. Maybe this is the last section of . . . whatever this is!

You ready your staff. If it looks this similar to a Nightmare, it probably is one. You won't be waiting around for it to claw your face off like the one in the forest. Time for an ice spell!

No time to think! The not-you begins to run at you--its running style is very feral; on all fours despite being human in its shape. How does that work!? You fire a few ice bolts, but it dodges every single bolt easily. Screw it. You'll just try to get in close and see what it can do hand-to-hand. It lunges at you like a tiger pouncing on its prey and you smartly block using your staff. It puts all fours on the staff before you push it back. The not-you backflips and lands a few feet in front of you. You try ice again . . .

This time, one bolt lands and the thing stumbles a bit before regaining its composure. It tilts its head to the side before disappearing in a cloud of smoke. Just like that . . . it's gone.

Interesting. You managed to resist your own Darkness. Perhaps you may do great things after all.

There's that "voice" again. But before you can demand an identity, you leave this weird space and return to . . .

'My room', you say in awe. You almost don't believe it, so you pinch yourself and--yup--you're definitely back in the real world. Wait . . . didn't you feel pain in the "Lucid"--was that what they called it? You can't remember. But this does seem like your bedroom in the real world. Orange rays of light pour through the blinds--the normal, human-in-the-real-world orange, not Lucid orange--as the sounds of the city begin to stir. Buses rumble, horns honk and dogs bark as the city wakes up for another day of life.

KNOCK!
KNOCK!

You're an only child, so when you hear a knocking at your door you know it's none other than your (mom/dad) waking you up. You're a young teen, so they try to give you as much privacy as possible.

"Morning, dreamer. Did you forget you have school today? You're gonna be late for the bus!"

'Yeah, yeah', you grumble. Rolling over, a quick glance at your clock shows that it's 7am, 15 minutes before the bus arrives and 30-45 minutes before the school day officially begins. Then again, you're not much of a schoolkid. You find it boring and useless. What do you actually learn there anyway? You rack your head for a bit to remember if Chase and Lana will be at school today, or if they were going to skip and go to the usual spot.

Don't skip school often, but after that dream no way staying in a classroom is the right environment.
