Segmentation Fault when running DF
« on: February 21, 2019, 05:38:43 pm »

Dwarf Fortress gives me a segmentation fault as soon as I run the program in PRINT_MODE:TEXT. The game works fine with PRINT_MODE:2D.

The only thing I have changed is I have moved libs/libstdc++.so.6 as suggested by http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=170057.0. I'm running on Gentoo Linux, but I'm using DF version downloaded from the site, not the ebuild (although the ebuild gives me the same results).

Not really sure what to do at this point, if anyone else has had this issue or has gotten DF running on Gentoo?

Here is a strace of running df

Thanks in advance!

Your strace mentioned "Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module". Did you check dependencies for missing packages? On Ubuntu, I go to the "./df_linux/libs" folder and run "ldd Dwarf_Fortress", then look for mention of what is missing.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.
