Why the hydra destroyed the grate
« on: July 28, 2018, 12:40:09 pm »

So I wanted to check what was the cause of my civ's war with a human civ, so I retired my fort and loaded legends mode. And then I thought "why not take a peek about some other things?". So I started by looking at the megabeasts. The first one, a hydra: Cacame Ayifepa Matheněthari, "the Mangy Lust". And at the bottom of its feats list I found this:

So the thing is I did queued for melting several grates I ordered just for giving something to do to a stressed dwarf who happened to like zinc and grates (the aforementioned Avuz Brassglaze, I guess, but I can't really know since I have already expelled the guy after seeing that he wasn't recovering from stress). I have no idea about the wooden cage, though. I ordered some of them, but I don't think I'd be able to set them for melting even if I wanted to.

But why does the game reports that a hydra melted them? I'm sure no hydra as ever attacked my fort. Is this a bug? For me, it doesn't make any sense. Should I report it?

If I remember correctly, masterworks destruction is sometimes attributed to a random monster in Legends Mode. Thus, your melting of grates may fall under that case. The cage might have been destroyed by magma, fire, or atom smashing.

I thought this was too specific for a search on the bug tracker to be worthy. It seems I was wrong hahahaha (http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=9727)

And I did atom smash an excess of wooden cages so it seems it's all covered.
