Interesting Historical Artifacts
« on: June 25, 2018, 03:01:40 pm »

So I just genned a new world and something rather unusual happened. Short history, low civs count, nothing fancy. I just wanted to try my hand at the new conquest mechanics, then moving on to my main objective of conquering and enslaving an entire densely populated world. It was only supposed to be an hors d'oeuvre before the main course. After the world gen, I checked the legends to familiarize myself with what I was dealing with. This is where I got my first surprise.

Only 2 artifacts, after 125 years of history. I know the low civ would mean less artifacts than normal, but still, what? So I checked the artifacts and was astonished.

Both artifacts are spears, wielded by an elf. Both got their names after slaying a minotaur. Both were lost after the death of their previous owner.

But wait! There's more. I dug deeper and looked for the elves in question.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Both elves were part of the same civilization. Both worshipped the same god. Both were slain by (semi)-megabeast less than 10 years apart.

Looking at the map, the Giant's lair where Flutesilks is stashed and the samp where Sholarbleed was lost are within 2-3 days travel.

Vanilla seems to choose the poor minotaur as object of destruction for naming a weapon a little too often.

Or maybe they're just easy to find, being stuck in labyrinths instead of out hunting?
