Edit: Ok, it is on the list, but not in alphabetical order.  So who's the real monster here?

I was the first vote for Periclase?  Is dolomite that common?  Periclase is the highest melting point non-economic stone and it has a (barely) higher melting point than those fire imps and snakes that might try to bother the magma forges.

Looks like dolomite is more useful though and abundant enough to use for construction, and will probably resist dragonfire a little longer... what do you know, this poll has taught me something.

It's partly that periclase is found only in small clusters, while dolomite is found in whole layers. So when you see dolomite, you know there's a sedimentary layer, lots of flux, maybe one to three types of iron, etc. while when you see periclase, it's just by itself.

I do sometimes embark with it for the express purpose of making mechanisms from it, as its half the price of dolomite. (For other stuff, ash doesn't have a melting point, so can build stuff like bridges from it.)
