Dwarf doesn't stockpile sentient corpse
« on: April 10, 2018, 10:16:11 am »

I notice that dwarves don't stockpile sentient corpse. There is stockpile that accepts goblin corpse and body part, but I have to manually mark goblins and their teeth to be dumped.

That's most likely because it's a refuse stockpile, and refuse stockpiles don't take corpses of former sapients anymore (since 0.42.01): they now all go into the 'y' corpse stockpile together with dwarves and pets.

It can be noted that the goblin entry actually does make some sense now as well, as reanimated (and rekilled) corpses aren't counted as former sapients anymore, and thus end up in the refuse stockpile (and they don't scare merchants anymore either).

Does this mean that goblins can be necrobaconned?

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.

No, since you still can't butcher everything that isn't consider (formerly) sapient, but only things that are butcherable. You can craft from "naturally" butchered bone, though, as long as the bone comes from something that was not considered sapient when it died (the last time). (That also changed with 0.42.01: prior to that any "naturally" butchered bone could be used for crafting [possibly with some exception for living dorfs, but it definitely applied to undead dorfs]).
