Zombie ravens out of no were
« on: February 03, 2018, 12:35:26 pm »

I had just started a fort and I had a mace dwarf and in a hammer dwarf in my army.Suddenly 6 undead ravens came out of no were and attacked my dwarfs.I killed all 6, nut then 8 more replaced them!I suspect that one of my dwarfs is a necromancer since a couple can read.

You sure you're not just in (or nearby) an Evil biome?

DF has a couple of bugs with the sky:
1. The biome of the sky (a few levels above the surface and up to the top) is the biome of the world tile to the NW of the embark world tile, not its own tile. If that tile has an evil reanimating biome you can get that result.
2. There's another bug causing "shears" in the sky biome, resulting in 16*16 tile patches of a random biome taken from the own world tile and the biomes of the 8 world tiles surrounding the embark world tile. If any of those shears are by the edge you can get entering critters appropriate to that biome (and if you build a floor to the edge those critters can be land critters as well, not just fliers).

This script can be used to change the sky into having the biome of the embark world tile:
