So I have two books laying around my fort that are bugged. I can forbid them, but not mark them for dumping. They are not owned. One got dropped in the barracks by a sparring recruit, the other one was left behind by a visitor that died of old age. If you build a construction over it, they will be moved just fine to make way, but in every other respect, the game completely ignores them. They do not show up on the trade screen, they won't be moved to a library, nor to a stockpile.
Is there a DFHack fix for bugged books? I recall this bug already happening in the .42 versions.

Perhaps related, perhaps not. My scribe has stopped copying books. There aren't any TSK'd quires or books anywhere, I have forbidden and unforbidden all quires and books to see if that was the case, but it didn't fix.
My number one suspicion goes out to selling a bunch of books to the caravan. I think that's about when the scribe stopped scribing.

A potential solution to stuff being ignored, which I had to apply to the succession fortress, was to retire and unretire. There should really be a dfhack fix but that requires research.

My case was more serious because food and other items could not be found by dwarves even though they existed.
