Militia Member Returns in Migrant Wave

So I sent a squad out to search for an artifact, and a few months later, one of the members returns, but during a migrant wave.

It is definitely the same dwarf, but he is missing his armor and his sword. There was no message announcing the squad's return, nor was there a report.

Was this supposed to happen?

Edit: He just left again after taking another sword. I'm still waiting for the squad to return.

Maybe his squad is dead.

If you make a copy of your save and put it outside of the df folder, then you can abandon your fort and try to figure out what happened in legends.

One of the dwarfs walked in front of Thor to get a better view of the prye, and Thor kicked him irritably into the middle of the flames, which made Thor feel slightly better and made all the dwarfs feel much worse.
