Adventure Mode: Can't select my fortress

I cant select my fortress as part of my adventurer's background and I've tried all available groups/civs on the map.

Is there a minimum population or year you have to reach before adventurers can set out from your fortress? Mine is fairly new yet.

Isn't it random? How many forts of your civ are in your world?

Scrolling through the sites (by toggling between locally important and peasant repeatedly) is random so it can take a really long time to get to the site you're looking for. Especially if you have a lot of sites.
