What do you prefer, adventure or Fortress mode and why?

Or maybe a mechanic, if given enough time to prepare.

Fortress mode, of course, mainly because it's about 10 times more developed than adventure mode.
In the old days I used to play a few adventurers between fortresses, just for the fun of massacring a few ratmen and exploring my world a little, but I don't do that so much now because of the lag in the new versions.

Adventure mode is good for a very quick laugh (carp spits out dwarven chunk) but fortress mode is more developed.

[Healthcare Update Thread] Personally, I can't wait for doctors to get possessed and start surgically attaching axes to champion soldier's arms.

Fortress mode here, I'm not a fan of the adventure mode type of game.

Havent even tried Adventure mode, now that I think of it.

Fortress mode primarily because it's more developed like everyone else said.  But I like adventure mode and probably spend more time in it than the average dwarf fortress player.

Heck, usually when I get a mildly successful adventurer I retire him temporarily and go into dwarf mode to make him a house.

Pretty funny when I did that once and a giant cave spider apperantly decided to take up residence in the place in the two and a half days it took my adventurer to get there after abandon.
