Hi it's me AbstractTraitorHero you may know me from Bay12 or perhaps from other forums like space-battles or maybe you just know me from Discord or something of the like! Either way, it is nice to meet you! I am here to tell you all about this game that I have cooked up after some encouragement from discord.
Shout out to Robo. The game in question is a god game as have been frequenting the forum lately and this is one of my first tries at seriously being a GM, to be honest. Which make's me more than a little nervous and I really hope you are able to enjoy the game I make here.
Welcome to Mortal God's I suppose and I hope you join me on this journey.
I will be accepting more people as I feel I am able to handle it so feel free to apply if you don't get in! I will put you on the waitlist!
What exactly do you mean by Mortal God's?Simple you are a former mortal and now god who by most likely some sort of supreme god beyond your comprehension been flung into a section of the universe that is unclaimed and sealed in a bubble one would say of your own combined godly powers. Together you will make world's creatures and many other things of various amazing or perhaps even mundane quality's.
As well as get to see what exactly happen's when you suddenly give a mortal untold power.
Let's see if power truly corrupt's shall we?
Cool, Mechanic's Please.
Well, well Touchy aren't you? The mechanics of this game are rather simple drawing quite a bit from pantheon this game mainly run's on three things.
Lesser Edicts:
These while not as powerful as a normal act are unlimited and you may do as many as you want in a turn within reason.I would prefer you don't hit me with 20+ Lesser edicts without really good reason. Now for what Lesser edicts are.
They are Edicts that don't constitute full edicts but are well beyond anything you or I could do.
Such gems include things like influencing an entire nation. Uplifting civilizations or mutating a whole species of poor people! Rising a Mountain or creating a powerful being that while not servant level is almost definitely something strong.
Remember it take's Two turns for one of these to fully take effect.
Edicts:
Rather standard and what you will be getting mostly in income from your follower's. But do not worry at the very least even as a worshipless god you will get at least one Edict! In fact, you all start with three of these bad boys at the start!
But Ath! You haven't told me a damn thing about what I can do with these!
Well, my friends! With a single edict one can raise a continent, Change entire dam countries. Create species! Demi gods! Monsters! OH MY!
So many things are just up and open to your imagination!
But Remember one thing it takes one turn for them to fully take effect!
Grand Mandate
What? Are you confused? Why did we switch from edicts to mandates? Well, my friend, it is due to the gravity of such an act. Unlike other's it is quite...more of a thing that resonates.
Not much can stop a Grand Mandate. Not without significant power that is.A Grand Mandate is the act of creating an entire world detailed and with as much as you can imagine. Creating a wondrous afterlife! Maybe even a realm beyond mortal Kin! Weapons of mass destruction and artefacts of immense power.
The power to utterly change the planet or perhaps scandalously imprison one of your fellow gods! Maybe even wound them terribly! Oh, woe who would dare do such a devious thing! A Grand Mandate requires either 9 Edicts from either one god or multiple gods or a great amount of energy/Prayer or something similar.
Unlike all others. A Grand Mandate cannot be performed in one turn. Instead Requiring one turn to fully concentrate all the godly power needed for such a powerful thing.
The effects of a Grand Mandate are Immediate.
How does combat work or messing with other god's actions?
Well Combat is a rather tricky thing.
To put it simply you guy's can interrupt each other using Edicts.
To tell you straight.
It requires one Edict to counter one less Edict.
Two Edict's to counter one Edict.
And it require's you to match the number of act's put in a Grand Mandate to counter it.
These all require you to RP how you are stopping said edict or said lesser edict or Grand Mandate.
Say for instance someone did an edict of throwing a meteor at a city.
First, his action would go through and a meteor would begin hurling to the city next turn.
This is when you act.
Using up two edicts to be able to properly counter his own.
Rping how you do so.
Name: Mind telling me your name?
Spheres: What did the Grand Creator endo your powers with the attributes of?
Appearance: Hey uh Mind telling me how you look? You might look just a bit different than how you did when you were mortal hopefully not too much though right?
Backstory/History: Mind telling me about yourself? Where did you grow up? What did you do? Who were you and why are you who you are today?
Well Uh, I hope that is everything I need to explain please tell me if you need clarification or if I might have missed something that would be crucial to running this type of game and I would like you all to know that feedback is always welcome and that this game's players are not selected first come first serve and is instead based on the quality of your sheets.
Player List:
I am Ælfric the Wise.
I am imbued with the powers of wind, frost, and thought.
I was once an alchemist at an ancient court; my powers, which secretly I had learned from my selkie mother, were in high demand; kings and princes of far-off lands sought my occult aid and funded my experiments generously. Then I did it. I solved the great mystery and created the Philosopher's Stone. No sooner had I tasted a drop of the Elixir of Life than my very essence was burned away and the naked divine spark that lies within all life was freed in me. I know not whether I was the first or the last, but in that moment I became a God.
If any who knew me before could see me now, I would look a strange sight indeed. Imagine, if you will, a whirlwind carved out of ice, crackling with lightning, yet somehow all quiet and motionless - provided my mood is calm. Imagine then that this whirlwind extends in hundreds of dimensions unknown to mortal minds – a whirlwind with corners, too many corners, twisting in ways the eye cannot follow. Imagine this scene now turned inside-out, as if you are always inside the whirlwind looking out, and that the whirlwind nevertheless retains the fundamental aspect of a young, brash, perhaps slightly unhinged experimental alchemist with a certain inhuman quality - well, the inhuman quality is perhaps less strange now. Still, that is a fair description, I think, of my nature, of the transformation wrought upon me by divine energy.
Name: Nertox Nixni
Spheres: Fire, Rebellion, magic
Appearance: A Roughly four foot tall, Grey humanoid wearing grey robes, his eyes are green and his face is quite a bit scarred, He has no hair, he has four arms, upon each hand he has six fingers, horns grown forth from his head.
Backstory/History: Nertox was born the bastard son of a duke and a maid, in the monarchy of Oxader, at the age of 14 his mother was beaten to death by the duke for threatening to tell his husbands that he had produced unsanctioned young. At the age of 16 he left the hive, and became the apprentice of an archmage of the Kognich race, roughly thirteen years passed, as he learned of the beings beyond the world, of magic and of the gods, and that the god Zoanic was not one, simply a mage who had trained until it had surpassed normal life by necromancy. At the age of 30, he started THE rebellion, inciting destruction through the burning of temples and other holy sites, as he worked his way through the hives, he slew many tainted by the false god's magic, Vampires, Gaules, golems... When finally he reached the Ivory Spire, he had destroyed the main religion of his race, freed over 40000 drones from the bone mines, and born witness to the slaughter of the majority of the former rulers of his people. The Fight with Zoanic was intense, both took powerful hits, both were nearly ended by the other multiple times... in the end, as the burning dust of Zoanic scattered, Nertox lay dying of a bloody wound, a voice rang out within his head, the voice told him that he had a choice; He could Die then and there, or he could become one of the gods of a new world, a new universe... you can probably guess which option he took.
Name: Vitae
Spheres: Life, Water, and Seasons
Appearance: Vitae looks a bit more primal than the other mortal gods. He was pale of skin and had dark magical runes across his body and a little on his face. These runes changed colour based on the season. He wore clothes made of the furs of animals. Over which was a cloak which changed with the seasons like his runes. Vitae was toned and muscular, not like an athlete, but like an animal. In many ways, Vitaes features would become slightly more primal based on the conditions he's in. No matter what though Vitae always looked as if he just belonged wherever he was, like another tree in a great forest, he just seemed to naturally be there.
Backstory/History:
Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shapeshifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But, a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me.....
Vitae was once a woodsman and a hunter. A solitary mortal who spent his years living alone in a vast forest, a forest which, while harsh, provided all Vitae needs. At that point, Vitae was not Vitae but had a mortal name. Vitae lived for years, without seeing another mortal, but in the dead of winter, Vitae heard a strange noise from outside his cabin. Taking his axe and a torch, he braved the snow and wind to see what had made the sound. It was a bear cub, tiny and freezing. Confused and unsure, Vitae took the bear cub into his cabin. The poor thing was injured, sick, and freezing to death. Its mother had probably abandoned it. Vitae spent the rest of winter nursing the cub back to health, and in spring it left him, healthy and strong. At the height of winter several decades later, Vitae had become old and wrinkled by now, Vitae was visited by a giant bear which toppled trees and who's footsteps sunk deep ponds into the forest floor. This was the cub Vitae had saved, a powerful primal spirit. Vitae was happy his little cub had grown up big and strong, but it seems it had not returned for a visit. Vitae was dying, and would not survive the winter. The great spirit had come to return the kindness this mortal had shown it and transferred its vast power into the tiny mortal. Vitae was in that moment, and from then onwards, returned to youth, given incredible power, and become one with nature.
Name: Astalina, Mistress of Shadows
Sphere: Shadows, Night, and Wealth
Appearance:
Basic Appearance Idea; A roughly five-feet tall figure of a lithe woman wearing purple elegant, silky robes. Wears a lightly-shaded purple Venetian style of mask; elegant, expressionless, and otherworldly which makes it nearly difficult to ascertain what emotion that Astalina refers too. Her internal details are rather overexaggerated to sometimes non-existent, with the disguises she portrays and the enhancements from the artifacts, she might lack hair and even the color of her eyeballs and have only became shadowy darkness.
She also wears magenta silk gloves and other clothing parts to hope disguise what her intentions are. A dark, shadowy aura seems to surround her existence as well as two golden artifacts, an amulet and circlet are equipped with her. The amulet being centralized with a blue scarab, and the circlet with a dark raven.
Background: Astalina was born into as a heir into of a rich desert kingdom in somewhere, having to deal with the cosmopolitan and economic society she had to learn and grow up from, and never really finding a proper anointed spouse to marry. The sultan and his wife, were disappointingly backstabbed and assassinated at a point of Astalina's adolescence. As of being the firstborn and no male heir, she took the responsibility as the public image for the kingdom, while the adviser and council worked with them. Astalina sadly tried to actually perform political and espionage work with the desert kingdom, but the adviser and council had other plans. They thought that Astalina meddling was too much and she needed to be "remove" from the picture. Astalina, almost to due to arcane luck, survived and ran away from the kingdom from almost being stabbed in her sleep. Leaving the fertile floodplains was difficult but necessary, and with her trusted camel set on her path. Eventually, at a point of dehydration, she found an ancient temple adjacent to an oasis, and after drinking the water decided to explore the ancient tomb. She found many archaic calendars and desert stone crypts. Until at the foundation of the deepest layer, she found an arcane necklace with a blue scarab, an emerald snake, and a dark bird that it surrounded. It felt as if the amulet was calling for her, and she picked it up and quickly wore it. She felt her mind and physical body to change, it heavily darkened to obsidian-like skin and she had the ability to exhort dark energy out of her hand palms. She had the ability to create servant of the shadows, and her altered brain had big plans. With a dastardly and long war campaign against her home desert kingdom, she eventually conquered and with the pleas of mercy from the desert adviser, she learned of an ancient circlet. She, of course, killed the betraying adviser anyways and wore the circlet. With both the amulet and circlet, she had god-like manipulation with the power of shadows, dark energy, and of course an eye for anything pretty. She had become a divine entity that was enhanced by ancient artefacts

Name: Sanctitas
Spheres: Holy
Appearance: A woman, standing 8 feet tall, with four solid white eyes (no pupil or iris), a vast mane of honey brown hair, and pale skin. Her arms and legs are covered in snake patterned scales, and she has claws on her hands and feet. She has the tail of a lion and the wings of an eagle.
Backstory/History: Sanctitas was no one person, she is an amalgamation of animals and a man, or rather, a woman. What her name was, she doesn't remember, amid the turmoil of the animal memories. She does remember, that she was a person of faith, not a preacher, but someone who was preached to. With her current turmoil of past memory, she sees the memories without the mindset she used to have. She is sickened by her stupidity and obedience. That she never understood holy and merely followed for virtue, and the hope for divine intervention.
Ultimately, it was another god that gave her the means to find out, one she had seen as heretical. Her mind was tainted by her mindset, she was too obedient and faithful, never thinking for herself. So the god combined her with a dozen predators, who block her memories with bestial fury. In order for Sanctitas to access her memories, she has to be assertive, but also logical, as the fury of the beasts will outdo her in pure power. However, there was a bonus hidden, the god had given her the seed for her own godhood, so as she regained her memories, she came across it, and unlocked her godly powers. With her new mindset, she was able to see what this power truly was, holy.
Sanctitas has given up on regaining all of her memories, many of them are simply not worth it. Years of foolish obedience, and lessons that are either useless or harmful.
Name: Velie, Lady of the Abyss
Spheres: Water, Darkness, Silence
Appearance:
A slender human figure. A long flowing dress of pitch black. A stream of perfect ebon hair reaching to her knees. With her clear skin and beautiful features, the Lady of the Abyss has a surprisingly human appearance.
As a divine, she is blessed with perfect and tangling-proof hair.
Backstory/History:
Velie was once the great archivist of a dying empire. As the great keeper of knowledge, she bore in her memory all known secrets of history, and also made a vow of silence. All the dark truths she knew were to be sealed by her lips, only to be passed to the next archivist.
Living in the great library of the imperial capital, she was directly affected by the invasion of the alliance of foreign kingdom. Yet she survived and lived through ever-changing times... She witnessed the revolution, where she saw the empire crumbling... She witnessed the rebirth of the empire, and met the great emperor Lorakies the Impartial in person, she saw the great conquests, spoke and travelled with Hyorven the Conqueror, survived through the eruption of the Mt Velga...
And ultimately died of old age.
But she was a god when she woke up :p
Name: Erin Quill
Spheres: Science, Freedom, and Mortals
Appearance: Erin quill does not, in fact, look any different from when he was mortal. He's human, and appears vaguely Middle Eastern. Where his eyes should be, he instead has a pair of black stones, engraved in multicolored runes - not that he is any less expressive. His left arm is a prosthetic made of wood and brass, though it works just as well as a normal arm. He wears a red t-shirt and a pair of khaki pants, with an stained labcoat over it. He is almost always doing something with his hands, typically tinkering with some trinket or gadget.
His hair is, and will always be, an absolute mess.
Backstory/History: Erin Quill was a mad scientist. Well, not exactly mad, but... well, yeah, he was kind of insane. But he at least recognized the fact. It let him create impossible inventions, at least. Guns that transform people into steel for 24 hours! He could teleport! He could make shields that could shrug off a nuke! He could make portals to other universes! And so on and so forth.
Problem is, he decided that all these blatant impossibilities must be due to his ability to make magic items. The rest of the mad scientist community - and that of the mages, for that matter - vehemently disagreed. So the place where Erin had set up his base - a house in the middle of the forest, which had a bunch of floating rocks that grew energy crystals - got shunted into another reality for pissing this one off. This, of course, just made it easier to do whatever he wanted without interference.
So he made more portals. Portals to worlds beyond his understanding, beyond his "power level" per se. And he explored, growing ever stronger as he made ever more inventions. And at one point, he came across the abandoned domicile of a god. Of course, with a find like that... what is there to do but to claim it?
This would not, under normal situations, actually make someone a god. A demigod, at most, even when you were already as powerful as Erin was. But sometimes...
Sometimes, there's actually a job opening that someone is trying to fill.
Sometimes, even if you can't make yourself a god, someone else will.
Hope it's not as confusing as it was writing it.
Name: Cheir
Spheres: Twisting, shaping
Appearance: A hunch-backed old man. His skin is completely gray except for the sparkling green eyesockets and the purple stripes on his limbs. His fingers end in curved yellow talons and his mouth is full of perfectly white cubes of teeth along with twin tusks jutting out of the corners. Each of his joints sports an eye and his long hair of twisted sinews reaches his waist. He is constantly spinning in mid-air. Sometimes he wriggles his eyebrows, winks, claps, pokes his eyes or performs other such minor acts for no apparent reason.
Backstory/History: He was born in a sewer to a pair of escaped slaves. Unfortunaly the sewer was located in a kingdom famous for their optimistic practitioners of magic and alchemy, Relin. Most of their experiments were harmless as long as they didn't involve life. Anything involving that somehow always failed miserably. Which only made the next generation more certain that they'll get it right. The fact that they all performed them in the wild only made it worse. Adorable bunnies turned bear-sized and grew a violent temper. Cabbage sang in tunes that incited madness. Trees huddled together and whispered gossip behind the backs of travelers. Pigeons that sold this gossip to them and displayed an uncanny talent for finances. Piglets that one day disappeared from their pens and began appearing in dreams, staring down their dreamers with eyes of judgement and sorrow. The kingdom was full of such things.
And so the pair fell victim to cat-sized rats that had a tendency to raise children of all species they could find. And so Cheir was raised among countless other species and eldritch abominations until he was sent off into the surface world on the day he found the exit. There he found the power to shape flesh and blood, material and unmaterial. He began exploring the depths of magic and discovered his great talent for it, along with a morbid fascination for the power of shaping life. By the time he was 50 he was more knowledgable than even the best of the kingdom and left countless of his own experiments in the wild. Even the usually indifferent mages began hunting him, providing more materials. But as he grew older his enthusiasm waned. No longer satisfied with shaping the form of others, he turned to himself on his 100th day of birth. But he was not prepared for the pain and his mind twisted unto itself in suffering, meshing his identity along with body anew. And now he is here.
Name: Mahawi Sahn
Spheres: Sorcery, Poison and Death
Appearance: He has a long, pale face, mad white hair but a youthful appearance. He has blue eyes that somehow remain dark and when he looks at you you are trapped, caught like a rabbit in headlights, at the mercy of his pondering gaze. On his left pinkie, the tip is black and scarred, a reminder of his past.
Backstory/History: Having grown up in the Elven town of Sangrilah, he possessed eternal youth until his death, as with all people from that town. This youth doesn't stop him from dying but he looks young all the time. He was exiled at 21, leaving everything but his dagger at home. He made the journey over the mountain of life, the reason for their youth where no-one had climbed before. On the way up he was, one night consumed by the cold, when his hand was bitten by the Graig, a frost snake that had rushed out of the snow. He carried on. Upon reaching the top, he reached the land of the gods, making him eternal.
