Child got a mood
« on: August 31, 2017, 01:58:19 pm »

Hi.

Second year in my current fort, one year old dwarfling caught a mood, claimed the workshop and after some time went insane. A little time passed and I got a message about he's dehydrated and after that he died. Something I could have done to save him? Another child in my fort is doing just fine so no lack of drinks or anything like that. Did the poor bastard just died because he went insane?

I have a kid on my own and hate to loose one even in DF...

Thanks.

Yes, failing a mood is fatal (although the kind of insanity can differ). The only way to avoid that is to make sure you can provide everything moods demand or disable moods.

Check up on moods on the wiki if you don't know how to check for what's demanded and what it means.

Ok, thanks. I thought they start attacking if a mood can't be satisfied, or is it just different with the little ones? Too harsh to beat them to death so dehydration for the children if the mood could not be satisfied?

Nah, no such check. It's semi-random (based on the dwarf's personality, unless the dwarf has no leaning towards one way or another, in which case it is random).
