Violet color of visitors
« on: August 29, 2017, 11:25:33 pm »

I finally started playing around with Inn/Library/Temple and noticed that some visitors appear as a violet ones (using SpaceFox tileset). I've noticed only once a dwarf like that, lot of humans, majority of goblins and none of elves. I would guess it has something to do with their alignment to evil, but wouldn't such 'visitors' only come as an invading army?

*amused*

Ehehehehe.

Well, admittedly many players have considered nobles - default violet colour - evil. But often, having nobles is necessary evil if you want to trade, know what you produce, and know what your doctors do.

Anyway, while I haven't used Spacefox, if they're flashing between bright and dark magenta, they're just notable in some way. Maybe noble, maybe with interesting history...Usually with at least some skills somewhere.

Otherwise, for plain dark magenta, that's the common colour for Bard/Scholar/etc. as those are considered 'noble' positions to be held.

Doesn't violet indicate performers (bards, poets, etc)?

The reason that's most of your goblins is because, yes, generally them being evil (actually them being Babysnatchers and therefore automatically hostile) means they usually won't visit (unless they're goblins from nearby human civs).

However performance troupes seem to get around this by somehow seperating the goblin from its civ, so you can get proper evil goblins visiting in troupes.

They're not flashing. It seems to be the case that they're all poets/bards, it's seemingly incosistent though - Elven and Dwarven poets/bards don't get violet tile (although I once had a normal dwarf colored in violet like these visiting, iirc he was actually a scholar).

Guess it's just SpaceFox having dedicated tileset only for some of the nobles, the rest get just violet filter or something.

Yeah, the visitors depend on the worldgen. Sometimes they arrive with a standard profession title, sometimes with Bard/Mercenary/Scholar/etc.
