In the year 503 the dragon Salore came to visit
« on: June 28, 2017, 05:35:10 am »

Been away from DF a while, but came back to play with some of the new features.  My current fortress was building up towards an invasion of the HFS and had a reasonably strong military. Dragon arrived and burned out the poor fools in the trade depot I constructed outside my main fortress entrance (under the marksdorf firing platforms.) Dwarven crossbow bolts finished the dragon but not before he had set the trade depot and surrounding countryside thoroughly ablaze.

I have a problem now and would appreciate advice:  The fire appears to have gone out but the depot and most of its surrounding terrain have become impassable. Big stash of weapons and armour that were at the trade depot included.  Any suggestions on how to regain access to these items and be able to have dwarves walk out the front door again?  I tried putting down stone floor after the flames went out but no access to building materials. I tried designating a pond and getting the dorfs to bring water in case it was still hot, but this has not worked.  My region appears to have had no snow or rain in the last year either...

Suggestions?

If you re-enable temperature calculations in d_init.txt the impassable tiles should cool down to dwarf-friendly temperatures. You might also check if weather is disabled in that file too.
