Yeah, +1. She probably knows a lot, running around her fiance's capital as she does.

We shouldn't neglect chatting a bit with Asphyxiation either, though. In part to let her know we have plans to help her walk (and other things) again. I'm in favor of sleeping with her, but I'd like to hear us pontificate on the exact imperial ramifications of that.

Let's go with Morg for the interim steward. Now that Redmane is shaping up to be our primary post-eaten-by-acid-elves-and-frillfolk opponent, it might pay to butter him up.

Speaking of which, our utterly monstrous mercenary is probably due a reward. We should ask him if he has anything in mind.

I'm in favor of sailing straight home when we're able. Surely we won't run into any trouble on the way, right? Haha, ha. Ha.

You have a good idea why young King Terriz Algers would want to marry your foster sister; Females at the highest level of High Elf society demand refined mates, experienced in love and loss. It would be appropriate for somebody of Terriz's station to first take a wife of a shorter lived race as practice, and sire a half-breed child or two to help run his diplomatic and espionage operations. He will likely take a High Elf wife to produce his proper heirs after outliving Apricitia.

Caesar Apricitia, a naive child who loves the sea and always looked forward to visiting your manor at Portum, seems oblivious to her circumstances, and is just happy that she gets to marry a cute elf who rules a coastal town. She is convinced Terriz loves her, and that her children by him will inherit his property, pointing out how fitting it will be that actual sons of a Caesar will one day hold stock in the Sons of Caesar Trading Company. Unfortunately for you, she knows little of the goings on at her future husband's court; Since arriving at Quicksilver, she has spent most of her time frolicking on the local beaches or studying business with the private tutors Terriz has provided her. She hopes to someday match her husband and foster brother as a deal-maker.

Once you are able to pull Apricitia from your side, you get to talking with your Lieutenants. You inform Asphyxiation that between your wife and the flower demon she controls, it is likely that she will someday walk again.

You then consider the ramifications of sleeping with her; It wouldn't look great, but most people would understand the political reasoning behind it, and unless Caesar Menas drops dead in the very near future, you would have time to repair any damage the act inflicts upon your relationship with his son Prudens before your fate winds up resting in his hands.

Next you speak with your savior Maiden-Chewer, whom you ask what he would like as a reward for saving you. The Frillfolk's ideal prize would be your help winning the throne of Wraith Valley for himself. If you could do this, it would likely turn a major regional threat into an ally, but the act itself would not be easy. You would have to march troops through The Haunted Savannah, and fight the cannibalistic bastards on their own wicked turf - no easy prospect.

In lieu of his people's crown, Maiden-Chewer would be satisfied with a public acknowledgement of his deed, noting that such a proclamation would win him more business and allow him to drive up his asking price as a mercenary. He might also be willing to take a more permanent (and very well paid) position on your behalf, but would like to deal with the current crisis before taking up negotiations on such a matter.

After learning that you have awakened, King Terriz Algers summons you to his throne-room. As a precaution, he has servants carry your cot rather than have you walk up the several flights of stairs between him and his hospital.

Terriz Algers speaks with concern rather than his trademark borderline arrogance. His agents, you learn, have told him of the threats facing the Loam Coast, perhaps even overselling the danger to an extent, and he seems to believe that the destruction of your people is all but inevitable. You assure him that this is not the case, explaining that your defenses only need to hold on long enough to arm Whipscale's Wyrven Clan and allow Tsunamia to complete her summoning experiment to the south... which may have already been accomplished.

Terriz Algers seems relieved by this news, and gives you the update on his end. Bronzespear is expected to fall any day now, and he has been given Caesar's blessing to straight up annex it. What is left of the old enchanted cloth monopoly will belong to the Sons of Caesar Trading Company, and what is left of the cities leadership will be put to the sword to avenge various assassinations and assassination attempts, including the one on your life.

On a more personal note, Terriz Algers explains his plans for your foster-sister Apricitia. He had initially bargained for her hand as a mere 'training wife', but is rather impressed with the child's intellect. He now hopes to teach her negotiation and logistics, and make her a key figure within the Sons of Caesar Trading Company. As for any offspring they have together, it has already been arranged that they will be fostered by her family in the Imperial Heartland, and given first priority in taking over the rule of whatever Eastern Province governor inevitably rebels first after they reach adulthood.

As you rest and recover at Castle Everflow, you recieve word that two clay elf ships bearing the standard of the Loam Coast have arrived at the city docks. Several hours later, a solemn faced Clay Elf who introduces himself as Captain Uxungop stands before your cot.

"My Pharaoh, I come bearing terrible news... Your maternal grandmother and Royal Armsmaker Stellixeth has been sent to her ancestors by the poisoned blades of High Elf Assassins. There was also a failed attempt on the life of your mother Karselil. We questioned both sets of Assassins, and eventually learned that they were sent by the King of Bronzespear as he believes that you are somehow involved in Quicksilver's siege against his city."

This is bad news. Although Stellixeth and her puritanical views on Claychantment would have likely been trouble in the long run, and she clearly deserved assassination for trying to assassinate your mother, you were depending on her to establish the arms making industry in Icarixip so as to arm Whipscale's clan in a timely manner.

Captain Uxungop explains that he has the surviving assassins aboard his ship if you would like to personally interrogate them or oversee their execution. Xamut V, who is vaguely aware of your ties to the war between Quicksilver and Bronzespear, had ordered them brought to Terriz Algers so that the young king may have a shot at extracting useful information from them before they are killed.

The morning you are cleared to leave, Morg the Manslayer, who had been leading the combined fleets of Tsunamia and Quicksilver, returns to town for a rest, having left the blockade force under Jericho's command. You inform the halfbreed of the stewardship opportunity at Tri-Gem, and he accepts the position almost at once.

Terriz Algers then summons you once more before you depart. He informs you that he is leaving town as well to join with his fleet so that he might be present at the final moment of triumph. He suggests that you tag along with him, so that you might take vengeance on Bronzespear's rulers and perhaps herd victorious mercenaries to the Loam Coast.

Of course, heading straight home isn't a bad idea either. You could figure out exactly what you wife has summoned, and hopefully get her onto fixing Asphyxiation next. It would also look good if you were to attend your Grandmother's funeral, and practically speaking it might be wise to see if her efforts in Icarixip can be salvaged without her.

I say we head along with Terriz. I kinda like Terriz, and more importantly he could be an asset for us to work on, not to mention the mercs in the area.

While vengeance would be sweet, we need to return to sort out the mess this has caused.

Why send assassins.  If they had not done so they could have just been diplo-annexed and served under a new lord and everything would have been peachy.  That is the way things work, soldiers and mercenaries die in order to change a few lines of trade and political contracts then everyone gets into a new hierarchy.  Sending assassins after us is one thing, but our mother and grandmother?

Give Maiden-Chewer public acknowledgement of his deed.  Combined with the assassinations against our family it gives Terriz more then enough legitimacy in his executions.

Let Terriz have the assassins for now, with the understanding that any who survive interrogation will be sent to your wife.

I'll narrowly throw in for Terriz. Going home is probably the wiser decision, but the final push sounds fascinating and it might be good to learn/influence more about such a rapidly rising star as Terriz.
