How to make people drink blood

It is just as weird as it sounds.

I'm trying to learn how to turn people into vampires in adventure mode for a future... project I have in mind. I am attempting to make people drink vampire blood out of a jug in the arena. I give them a jug and wait for them to get thirsty.

...I don't think people get thirsty in the arena, as I have waited an inordinate amount of time for this person to get thirsty for vampire blood.

How do you do this?

Put it in a mug. Anyone will immediately drink anything in a mug you hand to them. Including themselves...

You can't spawn mugs in arena mode, so that is unfortunate. Guess I just have to test this in adventure mode.

It would be nice if vampires could cut themselves. I would dive into every well I saw. MUAHAHAHA
