As I travel through the ancient ruins of Delristbar, I feel my archeologist's intuition speaking to me as I pass the tombs- Doors that lead straight to rock walls. This is strange indeed, since it is obvious that the walls are finely engraved, but all the tombs are in the same manner, even the present lord's. Tomorrow I shall fetch the miner and carefully dig our way into one such tomb.

With care the pick was swung, the engravings covering the floors and walls. Each one has a tale to tell (Although I'm not quite certain on the signifigance of two overlapping squares), but what was most interesting of all was the coffin in the center.
Once the miner has struck the rock thing, it wasn't like hitting another wall- There was an air bubble within the what I've been told is obsidian, the hole holding the somewhat-preserved remains of a long, long dead dwarf.

After we managed to get over the smell, I instructed the miner to dig out around the corpse. He mentioned, casually, that the stone around the dwarf was slightly different from the obsidian. This could mean that the dwarf was buried, but perhaps the magma flowed into this room after a grave had been made for him?

Extraordinary! I discovered, from the engravings, that each dwarf was given a burial, before 'becoming one with the rock once more'. This meant filling the room with magma and letting it cool. In most cases this would have done away with the body, but in this case it would appear someone used an almost-magma-safe stone in building the coffin. This is an excellent leap forward for dwarven history!

Tragedy. I'd discovered a lever while my mining companion continued to carefully dig out the room. My curiousity got the best of me, and, well, soon he joined our unknown companion amongst the obsidian.
Tomorrow I shall return to our capital with his belongings and my condolences for his family.

I found a chamber filled with odd purple mushrooms. Tonight I shall try some for dinner before leaving.
