now i may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, as the two friendly blokes whom both linked the DungeonMaster article for me might atest. i might not even know how to spell atest.
but i must both humbly and respectfully disagree on a couple of points. i believe you are thinking of the colossus and/or the iron man.
the colossus (bronze colossus) leaves behind a masterwork bronze statue. I have met one in adventure mode, but never killed one.
the Iron Man leaves behind a masterwork iron statue, and is trapable (i met one in dwarf mode on a reclaim, trapped, and later killed it). Also, I hear the Iron Man travels time for the future of mankind, and tend to turn to steel in the great magnetic field. rumor has it that he spends most of his time plotting vengence from the grave, which he will unleash on those whom he once saved. Thus, I am usually a bit leary about keeping Iron Man statues in dining halls, lest they reanimate and cause more consternation than they are worth.
the Titan stats in creature_standard (i've never killed one, but i'm pretty confident about how the file reads) suggests that they are made of 2 parts bone, 2 parts meat, and 1 part fat, and are generally made at 10:1 ratios for a whopping 50 parts in total! none of those parts are statues.
also, this particular Titan ran across 15 traps in one direction, then 15 cage traps in the other direction. additionally, he took a slightly indirect route which would have increased the total number of cage traps that he hit. additionally additionally, he spent some time in melee WHILE ON TOP of the cage traps, further increasing the number of traps he walked over and lengthing time spent on each trap square.
regarding the weapon traps, i usually see them turn from bright to dark red after they are sprung. i did not observe this behavior in this instance.
also regarding the weapon traps (of which he walked over an absolute minimum of six), they are tripple weapon traps of at least three-bar (excellent?) quality and they puree trolls in one whack. I have a hammerdwarf that fought the Titan. the hammerdwarf takes SEVERAL whacks to just CRIPPLE a troll, and he only barely scratched the Titan (bruised some limbs, broke some toes).
thus, i would expect the traps to have at least scratched the Titan, to an equal or greater extent as the lone hammerdwarf. this did not happen. combined with the fact that i did not notice the traps temporarily turning dark red, i dont think they went off at all.
and, in case its needed, i was hoping that this post was mildly humorous and might evoke a slight smile. i am not trying to be snide or snippy. i do appreciate the information you offered, as its considerably better than most of the nonesense that I spout.
edit: oops, Zomg pre-empted me while i was being long winded. I thought i heard of someone capturing a dragon once, which is also a megabeast, and which has the tameable-nonstandard flag, or special-pet flag, or whatever its called that allows the dungeonmaster to tame it.
