Year 25:
The kingdom has anniversary celebrations, although the mood is still grim overall.

The weeping forest is discovered to be haunted by the ghosts of all those who died there. Case in point: only one explorer came back.

The mages discover how to make magical scrolls to cast spells, for the non magical.

The king offers a reward for the plant to heal his daughter. Many immediately go off to find it.

Elves visit! They come, make Matilda less in pain, and then go. They didn't even say where they come from.

A public temple to Mooney is opened in the capital, despite clashes with the church of light...

There is a good harvest this year.

Disturbing rumers come from Ferrin, of the metal men making deals with the noble class, and nobles turning into the iron men...

Due to the crap here in the heartland, settlers are sent to the northern ocean, albeit to the areas not populated by mythical beasts.

The forgotten beast is back!
It dissapeared for a time, and is now pounding on the walls if the castle gates!
The year ends, abruptly...

Year 26:
The Merrisians have annexed yet another country! However, they appear to have taken vast casualties, and even more from quelling riots of their recently enlarged empire.

The barbarians are silent.
The crocodile men have signed a peace treaty! Our kingdom is no longer at war with them,
but at the cost of the swamp lands we annexed.

It is confirmed, the mermaids ARE raiding ships and capturing the crew, for purposes unknown.

The dwarves sell the herb for a large fraction of the kingdom's treasury.
They leave shortly after with their enlarged purse.

Matilda is given the herb in a cup of water, and she slowly lifts her eyelids. She is alive!
Near the end of the year the advisor comes into the throne room to read the scrolls of taxes and what not.
"The treasury is looking rather low this year.
Taxes are at perfect levels, no shortage of man power.
Happiness is at a medium right now.
The population is in tolerable levels.
And the army is in fine condition. Oh yeah, One last thing. It appears the castle is being attacked b-"
The advisor's scroll reading is immediately stopped when the door crashes off its hinges and Undolush charges into the throne room!

He punts the surprised advisor out a window(and the wall with it) and charges at the king!
His bodyguards move in to engage but are ripped to pieces by its razorsharp maw.
The king himself pulls out a dwarven steel sword from before the forge explosion to fight the foul beast, and Matilda cowers behind him.
With one, rapid swing of his gleaming sword he slices an arm off the creature, which howls in pain before chomping his head off.
Matilda is utterly terrified. She releases a wild magic that opens a portal to the underworld under the beast.
A strange, hazy form is seen rapidly fleeing through the portal as Undolush is sucked in.
After a few more seconds the portal closes with a strange slurping noise.

The King is dead...
Long live the Queen!

Matilda, at age 10, is now queen of the entire kingdom.

(Didn't have time for a map update this time, sorry!
Also thanks a million for posting imic!

Year 27:

The three walls of defence made between the ocean and the lake are finally finished and extremely well fortified.

Training continues of the army, quite a few soldiers have become relatively good now.

Queen Matilda(Age 11) has very little to no experience, and she also has to look after her little brother Tom(Age 8), who seems to like luxury a bit too much.

Queen Matilda sends the army over to conquer Merrisia while they're weak, also sending a few colonists to places inbetween Merrisia and the current kingdom.

People have decided to start recording history so that people in the future know what happened! It's half finished.

Year 28: the nightmares are officially declared to have gone, just as mysteriously as they came.

Queen Matilda leads the armies of Belathion herself in the war against Ferris, and multiple battles are won.

King Imic of the dwarves sends extra engineers to assist the folk of Belathion properly use gunpowder. Primitive guns and cannons are made, and are distributed into the kingdom's armies.

The barbarians dispand, as their old warchief was crap. Belathion takes advantage of thi, and expands towards the north sea.

The capital of Belathion experiances growth and peace for the first time in decades.

The war with Ferris goes well, and Matilda marries the grand marshal of the Belathion armies, Kassador Stonehelm.

The mages and court people begin gettin their hopes up that this shall be a golden age of Belathion.

End of year...

Year 28: the nightmares are officially declared to have gone, just as mysteriously as they came.
They were caused by the Binding Fountain, which was captured in year 16.
Also, I have a question.
Queen Matilda leads the armies of Belathion herself in the war against Ferris, and multiple battles are won.
Since when did Merris become Ferris? Or did I miss something?

Anyway, on to year 29.

Year 29:

Everything is still going well, the kingdom expands quite alot, the barbarians are disbanded, and Merris is pretty much conquered now. Since merris is now conquered, scouts have been able to look at areas further east, and have found a vast forest surrouning a huge lake with roughly 10 islands inside. Each one seems to be inhabited, and they are all connected to a central island in some sort of pattern.

Year 30

The islands are made of marble and seem to be inhabitated by 10 different races on each island working together for the good of Atlantis.

Dwarves have finally reached the other side of the mountain, most of their army has began marching to the East. Rumors of savage beasts 3 times bigger and stronger than a dwarf spread rapidly to Belathion causing a bit of fear but mostly just ignored.

ELEPHANTS! Elephants have been found in the south eastern plains roaming around happily with their large ivory tusks hopefully nothing happens to them.

The Kingdom is doing rather well under Matilda's rule.

Year 31:
Merris fights back ferociously! The kingdom's army takes massive casualties as Merris's cavalry rides with pikes on their 7-legged boarlike creatures. Matilda is mortally wounded by a lone arrow, forcing her left arm to be amputated in order to save her life.
Several cannons have been captured by Merris.
A Titan has come out of the dwarven mountains! Atian 'The sunken stoneoven' an elephant twisted into humanoid form!
It has 3 eyes and undulates rhythmically. Beware its deadly spittle!
A minotaur has escaped from the labyrinth! He is on a rampage and destroying villages! With the army engaged with Merris, not much can be done to stop him.

The mermaids are still capturing sailors, NO ONE wants to sail anymore.

On the bright side, The new colonies on the coast have built roads.

Year 32:

The minotaur destroys many more villages until the hero who saved Luprin comes and kills him.

Meanwhile, the army finds their own source of cavalry when they find giant rock golems in the north east that are extremely east to tame, all they need for food is rocks, so a few colonies are made over there and construction of a big wall around the area starts.

Meanwhile the titan is quickly killed by the dwarves, who were extremely pissed at it because it apparantly destroyed multiple of their fortressess, but they when we tried to help that got really mad thinking that we thought them weak. It was quickly explained to them that we only wanted to help, they calmed down. Doesn't replace that Grand-Master Diplomat though.

Huge bursts of magic start coming out of the Lake of Mists, and more and more mermaid bodies, of both white and black varients, start coming to the surface, turning the entire lake red with blood, there is definetely a battle of some sorts going down there.

Meanwhile, with their newly aqquired mounts, the army manages to push Merris back long enough for a wall to start constructing a wall around Merris to keep them in... for some reason one of our blonde diplomats sais that the Merrisians have to pay for it, and starts rambling about a trump. What is a trump?

Been awhile so...

Year 33

The blonde diplomat is called Tonald Drump and is elected head architect of the wall.
The rock golems are excellent at keeping Merris at bay, but they keep eating the stone wall so it has to be made out of metal instead.
Also merris refuses to pay for the wall. So we boycott them and sell everything they're selling at cheaper prices.
Their economy crashes and we buy their whole kingdom.

PROBLEM SOLVED.
or is it..?

All merris nobles are replaced and their land is split up into many smaller regions allowing extinct nations to come back.
A forgotten beast has arisen out of the lake! TankKit 'The Cannon of Cats'. A massive steel tank with a kitten inside.
Beware its explosive shells!

This is probably why all the mermaids were dying.
that and they were probably fighting.
TankKit is already destroying coastal villages left and right and is heading for the capital!

The dwarves have suddenly stopped trading with us! Their people inside our borders have left with their families to the dwarven homelands.

A forgotten beast has appeared in the forest named Puppyguard, destroying everything in its path it has headed into the swamps so we will be safe FOR NOW!

Grand Wizard Avatar has gathered an army and rebelled against Queen Matilda seeking to claim the throne for himself.

Merrisians saw this as their chance to also rebel and now the Kingdom is squashed between two rebelling forces!

Year 36

Grand Wizard Avatar has control of the FB TankKit 'Cannon of Cats' and is using it to wipe out all resistance in his path to the capital.

The FB Puppyguard is killing dwarves, and it appears to be magma and fire immune, as well as resistant to physical attacks.
TankKit 'Cannon of Cats' could defeat it, if it wasn't under the control of Grand Wizard Avatar

Merrisians have secured some of their country, and are re-growing their empire.
