One blank investigates the plants. They are small, no more than an inch or two tall. They appear to be a small green-brown orb atop a short stem. They have small roots which suck nutrients and water from the mud. Upon touching them, the blank grows small bumps green-brown across its body. It feels as though nutrients are being slowly extracted from you.

Another blank investigates the water. Touching it seems to have no effect on the blank. There are tiny shrimp-like creatures in the water. They appear to be blind, and are almost translucent. One or two tiny fishes can be seen deeper within the water.

Another two blanks investigate the tiny animals. There are tiny transparent crustaceans who feed off the plants and microscopic organisms in the mud. Afterwards they come across one of the animals making the noises they heard across the caverns. It is a croaking worm, which uses a long tongue to snatch up crustaceans in the mud. One blank wildly attacks it and beats it to death with its stumpy arms. That blank's head elongates and a jawless mouth splits open across its face. It also gains a sound sack, allowing it to make rudimentary croaks.
