I used to have some small understanding of the Navier-Stokes equations. :P I didn't pay too much attention though, and this was when I was about to drop out of engineering. Ah, good ol' fluid mechanics... That was actually interesting stuff.

Event Horizon is a sphere around a black hole, within which it is impossible for the outside observer to see anything, because the gravity is such that it lets no ligh escape.

In regards to the film, it is about a blackhole-powered ship that supposedly mis-jumped into hell.

Is that the name of that movie?  Damn, I've been wracking my brains to find the name to that thing...

I remember that the makeup effects at the end were very cool.  That was about the only good thing I could say about the film.

I really must bump this.

Be grateful I searched for 'Event Horizon' rather than posting a fresh subject.

I'm painfully curious for but a hint of what Toady had in mind here, however embarassing.

Envisioning 'enviromental emotions' - Or another way to put it would be 'dynamic haunting'.

The ability of your own specific actions within a biome influencing the nature of it, a paragon of decency in a fortress, happy, producing many joyous children where everyone eats well civilising and calming a biome, slowly, over many years repulsing the undead and other 'dark' entities.

On the other hand, a calm biome that suffers death, decay and suffering being adversely effected; Dark creatures become magnetically attracted to the zone, hallucinations are witnessed deep beneath the earth, bloodsoaked land spawns hostile insects or carnivorous plants, and vegetation in general begins to twist, and die.

Imagine the religious goals later in development allowing one to establish a shrine to a dark god, and a series of sacrifices and immensely powerful rituals over many decades planning bring a location to such a state of evil the river runs blood, those who drink it become addicted, needing blood to survive, successive generations produce children who are mutated, different, powerful...

Oh my I'm getting too excited. Going to go lie down and take my medication.

... corrupted by these strange powers the offspring of these traditions would reveal in a horrors unimaginable, dark magic wars breaking out between them, each generation more and more terrifying, after a while outshin(dark?)ing that of the gods themselves, until one day... one child is fed up whit it all... and carefully he enacts his plan to bring dawn to a new age of decadence and bloodshed in his name. Using his almost hypnotic voice  he motivates vast armies of daemonicly warped dwarves into leading attacks on neighboring civilizations. capturing slaves to bend and twist to their own depraved designs. They manage to trap even dragons and Hydras in his pursuit of ultimate power against their goblin rivals.

However, this dark power he is seeking is not to be found striding in the world of light. Nay! the Titans saw to that long ago, though it cost them their kingdoms, their powers, and their minds. They were the ones who sealed away the darkness in the pits with the sacred cloth of woven God's Steel.

But now this Endarkened One is truely able to comprehend the meaning of dwarven life. The apex of their existence, oh yesss it all makes sense now... The dwarven greed, the meaningless violence, the unnatural desire to plumb the darkest puts of the earth and strip away all that shines and glistens in the blacknes. Those who wait below will.. must.. be freed.

These weak goblin 'gods' would not not hear of it, for among their own they were but slaves of little more than common, menial worth. Why would they not seek to prevent they return of their breatheren. Even those few maddened Titans their former pets and their remnant Bronze Sentinels seek to prevent the stop the dwarves from unwittingly destroying their only legacy, but... they have never before dealt with dwarves such as these.

The dwarves are insatiable in their lust for power, and continue to dig deeper and deeper to reach Ur-Istoth, The Great Bearded One That Waits Beneath For All Eternity, The Many Titled One, The One With an Unnecessarily Long Name, The One Who Was Having a New Title Created But The Title-Creator Lost Interest Leading To This Title That Is Way Too Long And Has The Interesting But Strange Effect Of Being An Abstract Concept, That Abstract Concept Being The Creator's Apathy, Similar To That Shirt That Talks About How The Wearer of The Shirt Found The Shirt, You Know, That Shirt.  This, and many other names Ur-Istoth had.  A great, dead dwarf lying deep below the deepest Adamantine pit, whose beard extended forever, beard hairs extending fractally from beard hairs, touching all planes of existence.  Any who touched these hairs went into a Fey mood, and created an artifact.  The artifact created was an exact likeness of one of the artifacts contained in Ur-Istoth's lair.  The dwarves dug frantically to find and awaken him, and they succeeded...  The first dwarf's pick went right into the sole of his foot, causing him to wake up and jump forward in pain.  He slammed his head into the roof of his timeless cavern, and suffered a massive concussion.  He later died of an aneurism.  From his dank, rotted heart, something stirred.  It clawed through the sinews and flesh until it broke through his chest.  The dwarves stopped and marvelled, some losing their minds, others dying, at the appearance of...
