Question regarding modding gender castes
« on: December 29, 2016, 11:17:41 pm »

Hello, concerning specific creatures I'm attempting to design, I'd like to know if its possible to make some kind of hermaphrodite or at the very least asexual gender? I'm aware that male and female are hardcoded, but is there a way one could use something like DF Hack to combine them? Perhaps there's a hacky way of doing it via normal raws?

Edit: in case there's any confusion, hermaphrodites are essentially both male and female

From what I know, at the moment it's impossible to make a truly hermaphroditic creature.

Defining no gender make the caste 'neuter', but that's probably not what your looking for. No earth worm fortress as of yet!

On the topic of gender castes, what happens if you try to make a mono-gender race? They'll just die in world gen, and you'll only ever get two migrant waves, right?
I've been wondering about trying to find a way around that...
