New Management Screen Help
« on: January 10, 2017, 04:45:08 pm »

You know when you mine out rocks and get that generic oval-shaped item titled w/ it's material (i.e. "Chert")? How do you specify one of those in the order conditions menu? I'm trying to set it up so that I'll always have at least 20 "Clay"s (lumps of clay) on hand.

While clay is indeed stored in the rock stockpile, it isn't acquired in the same way as rocks per se.... You might want to check the wiki on that bit.

Once you have your kiln and clay collection point all set up, just make the "m"anager re"q"uest for 10 clay, then select the result in the queue, and hit "c" to set the conditions.

If you set the conditions at 'make if there is less than 20 clay' (then make sure you have a nice big stockpile for just in case you end up with 30 clays) and leave it as checked daily, that should do it.

I know that. But how do I specify to collect clay if there are less than 20 clay? Not clay items, or clay blocks or what have you, but actual lumps of clay.

Well, current manager screen has some bugs and missing features.
Unfortuantely, collect clay doesn't support condition settings, for now.

FIRED_MAT-producing-items.

Basically 'a'dd item condition, 't' FIRED_MAT-producing-items.  Don't forget to 'q' to get the inequality correct and 'n' to set the amount.

For these kinds of things, you can almost always figure out what trait you need by looking at the next step in production.  For example Make clay statues has a 'r'eagent condition of FIRED_MAT-producing-stones.  There is a very occasional bug where the required trait isn't available, in which case you can't do it.  lye-containing-item seems to be one of those (it's lye-bearing-item in the list, which is not used :-P, and the 'p'roducts condition for make lye unhelpfully uses 'lye' which is also not used).

I'm 100% certain I've automated clay collection, but not in this fort so I can't look up the specifics without finding saves.  I'm pretty sure you just queue up a work order at the workshop, then under (c)onditions simply hit (p)roducts and the condition will auto-fill.  All you should need to do is change the number since it always defaults to 10.

I wouldn't recommend setting it to one collection when less than 20 as that's really inefficient for your workers.  You're much better off collecting in sets of four when less than 16.

Now, I do recall having trouble selecting which clay type to make products, but I dealt with that by linking the stockpile and making restrictions there.

Hope that helps.  If you still have trouble, or this info isn't right I can find the save and check.
