Haven't played adventure mode much, mostly just ran around with a spear puncturing the necks defenseless animal people and watching them suffocate in their own blood...

Been listening to some of the old DF talk, and they mention many features I have never encountered in fortress mode like bandits, quests for artifact, night creature hunters etc

How many of these features are adventure mode only? Do bandits appear in fortress mode? Are they harrassing towns and night creature hunters hunting on the world map during fortress mode gameplay in the background? Is there any overlap of features?

As a side question, is there any other DF talk type of podcast for DF fortress than the ones on the main site?

Thanks

You can embark on bandit/night creature lairs, even just by accident. And of course, werebeasts and vampires can come to your fortress in fort mode.

But yeah, they appear in adventure mode.

Quests for artifacts are coming soon and will include some fortress bits like sending out squads to recover stolen artifacts, being sieged by forces after your artifacts, having those forces demand your artifacts, having secret agents disguised as peddlers, prophets, monks and such spy on your fortress (hopefully with some way to catch them).

Basically, the world of DF is big and complex and is planned to be much more so eventually. Lots of stuff happens, not all of which will effect you if you're stuck in one location managing a fortress the whole time.

Currently if you want to see the world, you need to get out into it by yourself. Future developments will see more outside stuff interact with your site.

The main thing to realise is that there's no difference in the world whether you're playing fortress or adventurer, just your perception of it. And that it carries on developing while you're doing your own thing.

Oh and there are other one off podcasts/interviews and stuff which are usually linked to in the dev notes. There's usually bits and pieces of info there which don't appear anywhere else. Other than that Future of the Fortress thread once a month is the place to be (and Twitter sometimes).
