Vampire weregopher?
« on: November 30, 2016, 10:28:29 am »

Well this dwarf doesn't seem to get thirsty. Although the monthly transform heals him, but should he at least get thirsty before that?
Besides, his hair is all white and has an appearance of a 230 years old.

Any ideas?

Transformation resets all thirst and hunger timers, but yes, weres are supposed to get hungry/thirsty before transforming and seek out food drink unless otherwise occupied shortly before transformation is due, as far as I understand.

I've always been under the impression that werebeasts don't die of old age

As far as I understand werebeasts don't age, which means they should appear as being of the age they had when bitten. However, worldgen creatures do not follow the normal rules in all instances (just look at the rampant incest among historical creatures, where creatures rather frequently are both parent and grandparent of an offspring).

I also believe the vampire curse is incompatible with the were curse, so it's possible to get one or the other, but not both.

Can't get both.

He should indeed be getting hungry/thirsty for a short time before transformation.

Yeah, I noticed.

So the age is just a special feature?

It appears so.  All my werebeasts also changed their appearance to someone who was several hundred years old.  I wondered if the age comes from how old the original curse was, but I haven't been able to check it.

At least dfhack's gm-editor shows his birth is -38, while current year is 192.
