Is there any way to prevent this? I have one hell of a magma crab problem in my magma sea, there has to be at least 20-25 of them and they are multiplying regularly mostly getting triplets and twins for some reason. They eat my FPS to no end. If I cannot fix DF hack, is there any other way to exterminate them?

If I recall correctly, Ruby scripts are crashy and broken in 64-bit Windows DF, so either stop using them or switch to 32-bit.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

If it's a Ruby problem you might want to copy the logic into a Lua script instead and use that as a work around. You could also take up Quietust's suggestion and load your save in 32 bit, do the extermination, and then move the save back (provided you're not using a monster embark, of course, but then you shouldn't have much of an FPS to suffer from crab movements).

2-3 is a normal litter size for magma crabs and a number of other creatures.
