I agree. The peace must be kept if we are to get anything accomplished.

You notice that there are no doors out of this room.

I anticipate we are all eager to see to our people's safety, I propose we commit to strictly enforcing peace between our peoples before we reconvene.[/glow]

Of course. You all may return to your people as soon as you wish to do so. And you may also reconvene at any time. On your person you will find a key. Simply urge a door to appear and one shall. It is the only way for mortals to enter and exit this room.

Oliver was stunned at what Kiet of the Naga had proposed, and more stunned that some of the other races didn't have a problem with it. Oliver let his feelings be known. "This idea is outrageous! If the gods had intended for you to take land from their Second Sanctum, then they would not have brought the wilder races to live there! It has been scarcely a few minutes since you have been saved, how can you already be talking about starting a war?"

"Since coming here I have not seen my family, the state of what is to be our new civilization or anything else for that matter! Should you not wait until you have made ample use of the territory you already own before putting your own people at risk to take more?"

"You would do well to remember that the gods have graciously decided to give us another chance. And it is not too late for them to change their minds! Now if there is nothing else you need to say, I have a civilization in need of my guidance."

websim.ai is coming dangerously close to being able to run Gridhood. Maybe I'll live to see the day if I exercise, eat right, and somehow convince the world's governments not to nuke everyone.

Please, let us not quarrel. I'm sure that Kiet did not mean that we should immediately throw ourselves into a mad dash for territory. I'm sure we all agree that we should settle in, address our immediate problems, and then, after all that is done, we can set to taming the world outside of the walls.

"Kiet of the naga. I have no questions towards the gods. Instead, I ask my fellows if they would be willing to pool together our forces and take some land from the Second Sanctum, unless of course you are fine with loitering within these walls, which I certainly am not."

"It would seem more profitable to rush by ourselves, rather than trying our hand at a joint effort and splitting the loot. How would the territory be divided? Equally? Based on the effort? Honer system? It seems it would be ripe for conflict in any way other than going it alone."

Roland regards Moreu with a slow eye then casts a glance across the gathered leaders (lingering on Sapphire):
"If I may speak, I am Roland Marteen, son of Roderigo Marteen, namesake of the great explorer, Roland the long legged. I represent the Glistering Aurum Republic. Forgive my unstately dress."
His 'unstately dress' is a grubby white and gold surcoat, bearing the tilted scales of his house.
"Thank you Elder God, your intervention visited upon the eve of our destruction. But moments ago I was upon the battlements, I had thought...

The Republic is indebted to you, Elder.
Kiet, I am humbled by your presence, and agree with your proposal, however I must confer with the patricians before I can commit the Republic to action.

I anticipate we are all eager to see to our people's safety, I propose we commit to strictly enforcing peace between our peoples before we reconvene.

"Once again, the lacking details are like demons hiding below the surface. And how do we go about this? Vow to join hands and destroy what ever forces go to war, no matter how justified? Keep no standing armies? There is no perfect solution to this, either."

Oliver was stunned at what Kiet of the Naga had proposed, and more stunned that some of the other races didn't have a problem with it. Oliver let his feelings be known. "This idea is outrageous! "It would seem by the Elder's words that it is, indeed, to late to change their minds. At the very least they are too invested to simply destroy us on a whim, if they haven't given up enough power to be incapable of doing so. In any case, my people have an emergency protocol to fall onto in times like this. The fact that I am here means that it is in place as we speak, the military no doubt has things under control for the time being. The territory will be ours for all of the foreseeable future-grasping it before someone else lays claim is a worthy investment."

Romero, surely the authority of your government can hold your people accountable for their crimes. This is all I propose.

A question, Moreu, can we hasten the return of your powers by any means?

I am going to leave. My people need me, and I do not wish to be a part of this quarrel. Peace is a must, and I, for one, shall leave is at that.

The Bannermaster snorts.

Go back to your hearth and cower there then. If the gods would have liked us not to war they would have left me and my people to the corruption.

Anyway. Naga. I say enough of the talk lets see to our hosts and then to war.

"Before I too take my leave,
Elder Moreu, my previous question still stands, but I have another: what is the exact nature of this corruption?
I'm sure all still gathered are aware of its horror. No magus, no matter how much gold they were paid, or from how far afield they hailed, could trace the purpose or weakness of these... Others."
