Hey,

I'm fiddling around with a tileset and I complete forgot how I make floor/wall tile engravings.

I want the floor/wall to look solid, smooth, without engraving, when its a smooth/contructed wall; And then it should show some engraving when I engrave it.

I know it had to do with transparency and background/foreground color, but I cant figure it out. :/

When smooth, the background colors will be black, but when engraved, the background will be different (lighter, I think)

So, make a two layer image with your smooth wall on the top layer and a background color on the bottom layer.  Then, on the top layer, use a low opacity eraser to erase the parts you want to lighten when engraved until it looks correct.  Then delete the bottom layer.
