38a Thief/Snatcher Behavior
« on: February 08, 2008, 06:33:00 am »

Since we can now set hostile entities to snatching and thievery, both, or neither, and since goblins now seem to ambush as well as siege, I have to ask:  Do kobold thieves still avoid traps, and is it because of ITEM_THIEF or SKULKING?  Or is it instead because they are a NUISANCE rather than EVIL?  I'd like to know where the magic switch is for that feature.

There is a [TRAP_AVOIDANCE] token, or something similar, that they have.
Shit. I looked for it, and I can't find it in entity_default OR creature_standard. I swear I saw something like that somewhere...

It wasn't before, I've seen that tag myself.

It's still here, actually.  Just looked at the demon profiles, and it's there. I don't know what makes kobolds resist traps.

And imagine an ambush of 10+ cobolds with crosbows... How can you stop them with your first 7 dwarves, even when you have a full arsenal of traps? -.-

At a glance through the raws, if kobolds can still avoid traps in this version then I think [SKULKING] may well imply a few things including [TRAPAVOID] (which, as others have said, kobolds used to have but no longer do). However, I'm saying that without any testing and it's merely an assumption.

1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Kobolds have never had [TRAPAVOID].

Kobold thieves (and possibly ambushers?) have always avoided traps, regardless of the (non)presence of TRAPAVOID in the kobold creature definition.  I'm just curious which of the new entity tags grants trap avoidance, and to which invader types (thieves only?  ambushers?  siegers?  snatchers?).

kobolds are always good trap avoiders, goblins good people avoiders.  I've seen goblins snatch kids from out of their parent's arms in a packed barracks and nearly get out of the fortress before being spotted  :p

jack johnson, raider has been shot and killed.

The above (including bbcode) neatly weighs in at 255 characters. Fallout meets DF

It might be a hardcoded class thing, maybe everything thats a thief or snatcher is trapimmune?
