Is there a way to play as an automaton in Masterwork?

A while back I saw a picture with all the races in masterwork on them (dwarves, elves, goblins, kobolds, etc.) and I saw automatons on there, and they looked cool, so I was wondering if there was something I could alter to set them to a playable race in Adventurer mode.

They are not in current Masterwork AFAIR.

Maybe you can port their entity/creature files from 0.34 version to the current one and mod it a bit to get them working.
They would need to have that tag (ALL_MAIN_POPS_CONTROLLABLE) to make them playable in adventure mode, but it should be doable.

Darn. So the picture I saw is outdated, I guess. Any idea of when SHINY METAL MEN will be back in MW?

Not sure, but there must have been reasons.

Maybe the fact that (from what I heard) entities need to have breeding castes (hard to imagine with automatons) or that they simply were done by someone else who did not updated them.

I'm sure Meph can tell you more ;)

There were a race in the older version for 34.11, but did not make the cut for the new mod, because they are a bit outlandish for DF. Robots or automatons are a bit too hightech/steampunk.

There were not playable, but would be an idea now that create-unit allows to make civ-members.
