A little help on modding.
« on: January 19, 2007, 07:51:00 am »

I'm trying to start a new civilization for minotaurs (and all intelligent flagged creatures eventually), and I've done this successfully, however I've run into a few minor problems. I can only play as a minotaur with "Play now!" and I don't start with any equipment or traits. Can someone tell me where I have to go to change this?

Do they have a civilization made up for them (like the Elves and humans do)? If so, have you regenerated a world so that they have cities to start in?

If the minotaurs had cities then you would have the option of:

Minotaur of Grushinled

I just made that name up, but there's the idea. If you had this option then you could assign points to skills, and start with equipment.

As far as modding, I don't have any experience, but there are many Bay Watchers that do.

I've created a civilization (they are set to "MOUNTAIN_SETTLEMENTS") and reset the world. I can't choose from a city, I can only do play now, and when I push play now, for some reason it starts me in an elf settlement.

If they aren't baby snatcher or civ controllable, they won't be placed, since these are the only mountain civs it does right now.  Even if you do, there's a 1/8 chance you'll be omitted, since it could do dwarves/gobs 3 times, unless those are removed.  I think it places 3 baby snatcher civs in the mountains, 3 civ controllables in the mountains, 3 forest settlements, 10 plains settlements, and 50 nuisances in different caves.  The only way to get an adventure mode playable creature with mountain civs is with civ controllable.  There are currently many unsupported configurations in world gen, since I'm not there yet, even if the creature tags make it seem that way.

I just tried setting it to plains, it didn't help any. Should I remove goblins as a civilization for now?

Hrm....  plains should work (just checked, it's definitely the right flag).  Something else might be up with the flags -- so the civ flag has plains settlements and indiv controllable?  (and you'll have to remake the world of course)

Nevermind... it works. Aheh...

I have a question, though. Is there any way for me to be able to gore with my horns? I can only punch.

you'd have to change it to a main attack in the creature def or get both your arms chopped off.

edit: wait, it is a main attack.  I'm not sure why then.  it should switch up if you aren't wielding anything.
