mostly inspired by heart & slash, which is a very nice game where you can play as a baseball robot
The day was coming to a close, the sun falling behind the autumn leaves and pink clouds, leaving its faint glow on all it surveyed. As the sun fell on the horizon, the cracking sound of leather hitting wood rang out, as the ball went flying in the air, leaping over the sun, to fall down over the other side of the fence. The players watched, as it fell with a splat into the muddied fields across the gate, and they rushed over, to investigate what their game had wrought. The ball lay there, covered in mud, and other substances tangled in a ball of prickles and vines.
They were an odd bunch, those 4 robots. The tallest one tried to reach over the fence, as it had the longest limbs, but only ended up with its baseball cap falling off, into the mud. It was distraught at this, and spent the next 10 minutes with its head in its hands, and the shortest one trying to comfort it, even offering its own cap. Of course, it couldn't replace what had been lost. The other two, both shorter than the tallest one, made a tower by getting one to stand on top of the other. The one standing on top was using it's trusted baseball bat to fish the things out of there, which worked for the cap, but not so much the ball, sending it spiralling further down. Drat. They spent a while strategising, the tallest one revitalised by the sight of its cap.
In the end, the tallest one stood at the bottom, while the other two stood atop it, holding the shortest one in the top robot's hands. It was lowered down, into the brambles, and ripped the ball from it's prison. Freedom had come, and they rejoiced, for this is the third time they'd had to do this today. Somehow, they tried doing all those strategies each time. The tallest one began packing away its pitchers mitt, signing the end of their games for today. The others sat on a table, covered in roots and moss, drinking cans of soda.
"So, what was up with that hitting today, Zak?" The shortest one spoke, it's monitor showing a snidely green grinning face.
"Oh shut up. He didn't mean to do it, obviously. Do you think he enjoyed holding your feet?" One of the others spoke, it's monitor glowing an orange, with a face that resembled a tongue being poked out.
"You don't need to defend me, Miyaka. You and I both know Jac, and they don't mean anything by it." Zak replies, as he polished his baseball bat, his monitor glowing yellow, but with no visible face.
The tallest one approached, and looked them over. "Hey now, don't be fighting on the turf! That's against the rules, y'know." A smirk appears on his monitor, glowing red, as they all chuckle. After some more small talk and jokes, they decide to gather up their things, and leave. Heading out through the arch of vines and ruined metal, towards the tower of plants and concrete, standing above a still ruin of what was once a city.
