Please add a benchmaker!
« on: August 22, 2016, 10:33:19 am »

I want to upgrade my CPU and i have a lot of suggestions but i think a Benchmark would help a lot. Just do a stress test and see how much you can throw at it before you get FPS death.

I too want benches in the game, placing thrones everywhere is silly, if dorfy. Should probably be tied to one of the generic crafting skills though.

As for the second suggestion you can tell the game to show your FPS by chaging the FPS option in the init.txt to "[FPS:YES]", no Idea why it's not on by default.

I know, but its not a bench mark. "I have 80 dwarfs, no fps death" is not enough to scale which CPU is good enough

Wait, are you asking people what their CPU's can handle? Because this is the wrong board for that.

We are currently three turns in, and the main hall is coated in blood, intestines and random corpses. There's a huge pile of 3000 items made of human body parts in a corner and remaining members of the staff of the museum are, as I type this, being slowly choked to death by one of our adventurers.

Yeah, there's been tons of cpu threads in the general df discussion forum. Should probably dig through one of those, or start a new one.

We could always just get a sort of "standard FPS" save floating around at some point. Modless save with 120 dwarves or something.
