I have an update on my situation, and it's good news mostly. The customer service person who contacted me says that "this was an honest misunderstanding due to a delay on our page", and that I'll be granted the original rewards. They've also removed the house from the package description (though its still on the image on the main page), so hopefully no one's tricked into thinking they're buying a house now. This was frustrating, but at least they're trying to make right by it without hassling me.

Considering how I hadn't heard anything about this since its announcement, I'd thought it died.

It's been stuck in alpha hell for the past two and a half years or so. They just recently had the final character wipe, and are starting to add quests and replace placeholder content. I won't say it's fun yet, though, as it's still mostly just pointless grinding if you aren't into PvP. The proper release is anticipated for early next year (originally Oct. '14).

Yes, sorry for not keeping things more up to date regarding this game. The focus on multiplayer elements rather put me off and since I didn't back the game there wasn't much else to report on, as well as Divine Divinity: Original Sin taking interest away.

I'm still interested in what this will end up being, but since I never was a part of the Ultima Online community a lot of the housing, stealing from other players and other emergent gameplay elements are kind of lost on me.

I suppose part of it is also keeping Peter Molyneux in mind and seeing some parallels with Garriot. I'm confident that he's capable of making a great game but vision is best tempered with restraint sometimes.

Taking all bets to see how long it takes for LB's personal avatar to be assassinated. I'm interested in this.
Day 1. I'll do it. Fuck you, LB, you conniving...

As for Richard himself, I'm pretty open to this. I missed his games.

I propose we put together a force to assassinate the king and usurp his throne as soon as we can when the game releases :P

That would probably lead to a power struggle though

I am going to get that bastard back for every single life-threatening ridiculous quest he's ever sent me on. If only I had the Black Sword...

As long as this game doesn't get ruined by worthless carebears who cry until they split the game's population, essentially ruining the game, this'll be a good run.

Ideally, they won't go overboard with microtransactions, either.

What's a paladin?
THIS GUY GETS IT
A paladin is a frankish knight. Remember Lotharingia.
