Unretiring-help needed!
« on: June 20, 2016, 11:56:07 am »

So I had a succubus fortress, retired all ok, took an adventurer there and retired too, but when I try to unretire the fort, It always comes with dwarves and the succubi disappear. Anyway to fix that? I thought DFhacks gamemode command, to change from adventurer to fort mode, but I don't know how.

Edit: It always reclaims instead of unretiring...

Huh.  Did you check which entity you had active in the embark screen before choosing Unretire?

Yep, seems to be the case, I can't un-retire either of the orcish sites either.  That is disappointing.  (i can send a new batch of orcs, by choosing an orcish civ, but still the previous inhabitants are hostile. )

Maybe a bit of dfhack gamemode command? As in come in with adventurer, change to fortress mode?

I unretired a succubus fort and it worked fine, although it was only retired for a few months. The only oddity was that every cabinet in the fort had been deconstructed.

I'm also having the same trouble un-retiring Dwarvish sites in Romomon as Dwarves, whether or not i select the "right" dwarven civ.

solution!
Turn off Embark Anywhere, from the DFHack "s" menu on the Embark screen.

edit:  Took a while to test (that load screen is slow) but I was able to un-retire all 4 Romomon sites, with Embark Anywhere off.

Same experience here. Having Embark Anywhere default to On is not especially intuitive, definitely causes some weirdness. I think it might be better to have it default to off.

Yes, for sure.
