County Challenge
« on: April 08, 2008, 05:27:00 pm »

I have heard about this idea before, but I've never actually seen it done:

Build an aboveground fort surrounded by many small, widely-spaced villages dedicated to certain tasks(farming, fishing, mining, etc.), all connected by a network of roads and paths. Station the military almost entirely within the main fort, save for a handful of soldiers in each hamlet.

Food, drink, and craft materials would be pretty difficult to move around the map. Sieges (And megabeasts) would be brutal, due to the military being so thinly-stretched. A single failed mood might wipe out an entire village. I won't even think about what happens when the economy comes a-knocking.

yes, such an endeavour would be quite a pain to manage. It would probably be quite easy to set the whole thing out of control in short order. But hey, losing is fun, remember?

Well? Hop to it!

Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion, that violence has never solved anything, is wishful thinking at its worst.
