Easy way to find magma without using regional prospector

To find hidden magma, look for places with obsidian listed.  Magma is near there.

Well...  "Near" and "Where you are" are two different things.  And, it's not a given.

I've started on maps with an obsidian layer that had no magma, and I've had a place on the overland map, where there was magma down at the swampy intersection of a river and the sea with no obsidian layer listed.  The obsidian was farther upstream, a couple overland map tiles away from the vent.

Obsidian is only a 100% indicator of magma in a Glacier/Tundra. Others it's slightly Shot-In-The-Dark.
