my first magma dump site
« on: March 29, 2009, 01:09:19 pm »

I'm in the process of making my first magma dump site and I want to make sure it is done right.  I dug out a little 3x3 room directly above a large pool of magma.  From what I could find here, it sounds like what I do next is channel a single hole and put a single designated dump spot right next to it.  Is this the correct way of doing this?  Will fire imps be able to fly up through the hole?

Yes you're dwarves will dump properly. If you're concerned about critters stick a weapon or cage trap in the corridor leading to the dump area.

I remember if there's even a single empty space below the hole above the magma, no magma creature will reach it since they can't fly (the imps might still be able to torch your dwarf thou).

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.
