Z-Axis Mining.

i don't know how to mine on the z-axis. I tried to build a stariway down, then a designated the area below it for mining, but my miner doesn't seem to notice. A little help?

A stairway up that's directly below the down stair might be the key to fixing your woes

Designate an upward stairway directly beneath the downward stairway.
