Cool and unusual guests
« on: May 06, 2016, 05:04:10 am »

Greetings and salutations everyone, with the new taverns out I have been getting all sorts of strange guests. My favorite so far has been a Gorlak hammerman, simply beacause I find the idea of a creature so cute looking smashing things with a hammer hilarious. But I have to ask, what cool guests have you attracted to your taverns.

I really need to play the new version :(

A Gorlak hammerman is very cute, but don't piss it off!

I have a visitor who petitioned for citzenship recently that got my attention. Mab Ximog, the goblin elite crossbowman. he's two hundred years old and fought in the goblin vs humans war in my world. But he got bored and decided to become a mercenary.

Well, I now have a Goblin Poet who is now my Mayor.  I had to replace the old one and this guy was on top of the list with all the skills needed for the job.  Why pick a second best?  So he is now in charge....poor guy.

Not a visitor but I once had a crundle become a citizen somehow. I made it the bartender, but it refused to do work.

I had a plumphelmet man Poet once (strange, since it cannot speak. Or can it ?)

Oddly, the PH man was listed in the "pets" units screen :P

I had a One-legged Echidna Woman Poet grace my tavern for a very short period, but what made it cool is that I met her personally when I played as an adventurer before I started the fort.
I should have talked to her more, or given her a crutch.
...
I think I'll engrave her picture into the tavern wall.

I once had a vampire poet visit. I know this for certain because when they arrived, the UI announced that there were, in fact, an elven vampire poet.

A vampire Lady has become a mercenary in my fortress.  I've also had a couple of unrelated Lord Consorts visit.

I just granted residency to the human, Laspar Watersmile, lady consort. She is 103 years old, with 17 children, ten of whom she has outlived. Most of them held positions of power at some point. Competent axeman, the best musician in the fortress, accomplished thrower. Over 26 years, she participated in 39 throwing contests, every one of which she lost to the only other competitor, Doto Mirroredgrew. After she lost the last contest, she left her home and spent six years traveling the world before eventually settling in my fortress.

I also got Sor Xoduosnuk the polar bear woman, which is kind of neat. My game crashed just before she petitioned for residency, so I learned visitors enter the map with predetermined personalities, but their preferences are only generated after they become residents. And apparently something about me making her a militia captain caused all the equipment she uses to be listed as stolen. Hopefully there will not be any repercussions for that.

I will if you think I should, but I kind of feel like I don't have enough information to make a helpful report. Especially since she's performing all the militia/training duties she should be, nobody in my fortress seems to care about the "theft", and I never got any notifications about it. I wouldn't even be aware of it if I hadn't arbitrarily decided to look her up in legends mode while I was reading up on Laspar.
