For what it's worth, here's the story of my working life.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

To summarize, you should expect to work the shitty jobs to begin with, but never lose sight of the long term goals. Take what you have now, milk whatever skills and contacts you can gain from it, and plan for where you want to be in five years. You can still take time off for your own life, but don't neglect to keep hungry for something better and work towards it.

Also sorry about your moms work issues. Has she thought of working as a solo entrepreneur?

Nah, she's 65 and ready to retire finally. Would have been nice if she could have done it more gracefully but eh, them's the breaks.

Anyways, the fact you're working with students is a big tell too. Many student workers are garbage. They don't want to be there but they have to, to get a job. So they're not the best employees because they're effectively temporary employees and they know it. Why bother to train a co-worker or teach them anything when, next semester, they or the trainee might be gone? There's not a ton of incentive to work as a team either.

It's like trying to do a group school project, only you're being paid for it.

Its kinda silly to complain that a friendly NPC isn't a well designed boss fight.
