Statistical analysis advice

I'm in need of statistical analysis suites, preferably free, goes without saying. I've already up and running libreoffice calc and PSPP. Compatilibity with these two is a plus. Being able to easily turn string variables into something that can actually be analyzed statistically is a big plus as well.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A bit late in the responce but have you tried Knime? It's a complete data-analysis suite, quite useful and free.
