Yeah I been playing DF many times while taking a bird somewhere... and don't realize when the damn thing lands. Then, I get a PHONE CALL or two cause I play with my rl friends. And one of em told me about DF so I can't even bullshit him.    :D

I leave files on the desktop, cause it's a big pile of stuff to be sorted (right now, anyway...) I use it like an 'in' box.

Edit: Corrections, I'm retarded, and not awake!

That looks about average for home users. looks a lot like my housemate's laptop...

but as I said before, I just can't stand icons on the desktop like that.

I like a clean, minimalist look.  I don't think it looks cluttered.  Games and toys on the right, applications on the left.  Demo version software on the bottom right (though I bought SE5 since I took that screenshot a couple weeks ago).

I prefer to have icons on the desktop because it's less clicking.  For the programs I use the absolute most, they go into my quick launch on the bottom left (Firefox, Winamp, EditPad Lite, Thunderbird) so I can make just one click to start them up.

If a program is only going to be used once in an eternity, I just leave it in the start menu and navigate to it when I need to.  For instance, Microsoft Visual C++ .NET Express, DosBox, and various other programs are buried in my start menu, which has about 60 folders now.
