Macbook mike Skype
« on: February 21, 2016, 04:06:15 pm »

It seems When other people are talking in skype, my mike is super quiet. Can anyone tell me how to fix that?

The relatively old macbook doesn't seem to have useful microphone settings.

Here's a few things to try:
If the problem happens everywhere
1) System Preferences -> Sound -> Input (or your equivalent sound/input preferences), look for something like "input volume", and turn it up. Some equivalent of that has been pretty much every version of OS X for years. (If you give me the actual version of OS X I might be able to go a bit more into detail for you).
2) See if your headset has a separate mic volume. For example I know mine does, and I've certainly hit that little spinny wheel and turned it down on accident before.
3) Move the mic closer to your mouth.
If the problem only happens in Skype
1) Try disabling/enable "automatically adjust microphone settings" in the Skype Audio/Video preferences
2) Make sure that the input selected in Skype is the same as the one you want to be using
3) Reinstall Skype
Some other things to try and help narrow down the problem:
1) Try your mic on someone else's computer and see if the problem still happens.
2) Try someone else's mic that you know works on your computer and see if the problem still happens.

Misc
It's "mic" when you are talking about sound equipment, and "Mike" when you are talking about sound technicians. :P

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
