I have barely any understanding how this game works but I'm still waiting to see if there will be German campaign in future.
KRUPP STAHL, GERMAN TECHNOLOGY, SUPERIOR ENGINEERING, ELITE TRAINING!
German campaign will consist of 6 months of "counter"-offensive missions, then 1 month of normal ones, and another 5 months of counter-offensives.
(You then have to pass a text-adventure about getting your Tiger to the Western Front, so you can surrender to the Americans.)

Yeah, and you get no restocks because the ammunition, carried by carts pulled by finest Wehrmacht horses haven't arrived yet. And every move you have 10% chance to break down which makes you unable to move until the finest Wehrmacht horses pull your tank back to base, where you will have to fix it by doing something really damn annoying. And then, when you will actually get into combat, you will be caught by 99999999999999999999 Shermans on every side with artillery and airstrikes constantly shelling your position.

It's not actually bad. I dislike how pivoting takes a full action slot instead of just offering a firing penalty. Otherwise good, just a little repetitive at the moment.

That's historical.  Keep in mind that no tank at this point had neutral steering (the panther was supposed to but crews were forbidden to use it because it broke the transmission).  That means that if you want to turn you need to leave your position and drive somewhere else.  Moving the tank means the gunner needs to completely reset.

The Sherman did have a primitive ability to shoot while maneuvering which is represented by the gyroscope ability.  It's not available to newbie crews which is a nice touch (it was tricky to use so a lot of gunners didn't use it.)

Oh man, this game, this game. I just got in a shooting match with a Panzer V. Close range, it was exposed but front-facing. I manage to hit it like 8 times with AP rounds to absolutely no effect, only to have it's single shot in response completely wreck my dinky little Sherman. :D

Yeah, it's pretty OP.  Panther front armor was thick but it wasn't so thick that close range hits from a 75mm AP round didn't matter.  There should be a chance of penetration and repeated hits should be effective.

I just can't get my foot in.

First try, I make it to the second day, and then get ambushed and sniped by an infantry team.
Second try, it to the second day, and then get ambushed and instakilled by a panzerfaust.
Third try, I run into a medium-threat level area, call artillery and go guns blazing, artillery misses, spend 5 shells and all miss, and then get killed by a Pak 40. I was two turns in.

Sounds like you may want to play on casual mode :P

Also, I have NEVER even been fired on by a panzerfaust. Since when did infantry use them?

They have a pretty small chance of having them.  Even if they have them, they have to be at close range to use them and not be pinned and not be killed by you or friendly troops.  They have a relatively small chance of hitting but hit pretty hard if they do hit.

Crewmen Sent Home: 0
Crewmen KIA: 0
Infantry Destroyed by Player: 6
Infantry Destroyed by Allies: 9
AT Guns Destroyed by Player: 1
AT Guns Destroyed by Allies: 5
Tanks & SPGs Destroyed by Player: 6
Tanks & SPGs Destroyed by Allies: 6
Other Vehicles Destroyed by Player: 5
Other Vehicles Destroyed by Allies: 5
Quests Assigned: 6
Quests Completed: 5

First day went be easily enough.
Second day: I lost my main gun to malfunction about two tiles away from the exit; which was then broken in the next battle from a failed repair attempt. Fought through the other tiles with smoke grenades and directing my co-axial/bow MGs. Then on the final tile I threw a track after taking down an MG group; leaving an SPG that I had no chance of beating. I blew the last of my smoke grenades buying time for the allies to kill it.
Third day, Killed my first tank, a Panzer IV. Then ran into a Pak 38, which dodged my main gun twice, and then proceeded to kill me through smoke. Everyone makes the bail roll, but I die anyway.

Yeah I'm done with this game.

1.0 is out so I gave it a try. first day, ambushed, couldn't find the order to keep moving and shooting, so I basically parked with my ass in front of a 50mm at gun

is there a way to understand the menus? it was all like "press space press space there will be another menu before combat" and then everyone was asleep on the job (but at least I managed to close the hatches)

also, thanks rng for robbing me of all my he shots before the encounter. not that it mattered, but still.

You get used to it. First time I played I really didn't understand much. Also, if you don't know the tanks pieces, it helps to make a quick google search, and learn for example what is a bow machine gun, etc... Overall though it's pretty hard, and as fitting to a roguelike you can have a pretty good run ruined by a single tank that you didn't expect.

I find it helps to carry roughly 3/4 of my ammo load as HE. I wind up using most of what I bring aswell.
