How many dwarves in your fort have the medical labors assigned?

I assign all the medical labors to all the dwarves, otherwise things take too long to happen.
I checked all the high traffic areas and gave every dwarf in them the medical labors. That's probably not every dwarf in the fort, but it's most of them.
What is his medical history? How many positions are there?
Mentioned the first part in an earlier post:

I also did a little more digging in the health screen - he was brought in on 15th Limestone, evaluated twice on the 16 and 18th, and was also cleaned once on the 18th. So apparently two of the big things were done almost immediately, but nothing else has happened afterwards even though it's now 2nd Granite.
Not sure what "positions" means here.

I've tried Slashnul's plan for dropping a rock on him, but no dwarf wanted to dump the rock I picked (dwarves not dumping things is a recurring problem for me). I put a bed under him, channeled open the roof above him, and a while later he got suicidally depressed and is now wandering around fort, so problem partially solved I guess.

Also shortly after the channeling the injured dwarf lost his "captain of the guard" nobility status for some reason; I think it was shortly before the depression, but I might be wrong.

infection has been in for years. I'm quite sure that if he's not unconscious in a hospital bed with a rest job, but awake, he will never get diagnosed.
I'd go for the drop thing on his head method. He needs a minor injury that's hospital worthy, but doesn't kill him. That will likely make him go rest in a hospital bed. I'd try dropping something a bit less massive than a rock first. Try some rock crafts.
