If memory serves, in the devlog the barrel-bag issues have been worked out and resolved so soon we won't have to worry.

Having a mass non-farmed plant/fruit/seed stockpile is a nice thing. Though it doesn't work out very well for heavily farmed dwarven plants for some reason (foolproof production chains get screwy because of overlapping farmers taking stuff before it arrives) so seed stockpiles are basic as ever, nothing fancy.

Hopefully in the new version to be announced at some point this year i'll be able to use a masterfully dyed bag, with a masterfully sown on image of a apple tree in expensive leather and make a huge profit turning apple seed trash into cash. Which will probably feed back into buying more trash as always.

You mean, "the seeds-in-barrels behavior is being reverted to the old seeds-in-bags-in-barrels behavior, so soon we get to return to the old set of problems".

But if that's the price we have to pay to get fixes for the other aspects of that change (dye being dumped into barrels, making it totally unusable) then so be it.  I lived with s-i-b-i-b for years before 0.42, so I'm used to it.
